Torn on what to buy....
For few thousand more get the 5.0 and I have one also and I pay 450 every 6 months. I'm in my mid 20s. Being stored in winter it's garaged 4-5 months under storage insurance which costs me $50.
I think you'd be happier in long run with that extra get up that the 5.0 offers. There are always deals. I'm sure there are sum 13-14' models still tucked away on the lots. And dealers want to unload them. Or look at a base model 15' 5.0.

Well spring of 12' I bought my 5.0 for 42k. Sticker was 45,600. 3 weeks ago I went to a dealer and they offered for trade 20k. So if you do the math half my value is poof gone.😱Lol. My car on retail they say is worth 28k. Thank The Lord it's soon to be paid off.
So like the other gentleman said. Real estate is gonna still be here. And will most likely go up. I said oil out of sarcasm since it's most likely hit the bottom of the market.
If I coulda done things different I would of bought a low mile used stang, while saving the other $20,000 that just magically disappeared. But i have my car and enjoy it with the top down in the summers!

Interest rate on the car was 1.89%. The house was 4.5%. I'm 34 and I'm an engineer with a M.S. degree as well (congrats by the way!) so I couldn't stop thinking like an engineer and I did what made more sense mathematically. Now the house is paid off and I owe a bit more than I wanted to on the car, but I still think it was a great financial decision. I can always sell the car if I need to. But the house is mine.
Back on topic though, what are your plans for the car? Will you keep it for a long time? That should help guide your decision.

Nicely said monster, lol. Another thing to think about is Yea I could 400-600 dollar payments but month after month after month. It wears on ya and then your like helpppp get me outta here lol. So like he said, gotta think long term. If you get one, I still say 5.0.
There was a a kid about 18-19 that bought a new 11' sixer and put a turbo and all that stuff in it, I think he said he put little more than 10k into it. His parts didn't enhance his value, people would only gonna give what it blue books for.

This is why I was asking about the plans for the car. Your GT drop top is still putting a smile on your face 3 years later, and I smile every time I turn the key over in mine as well. If OP is planning to hold on for > 6 years years, than I say get everything you want out of it. How often do you get to buy a brand new Mustang?? It's gotta be everything you want or otherwise you might feel like you've settled 2 or 3 years down the road. Mustang is a luxury, not basic transportation. Once you decide to go Mustang you might as well go for what makes you happy. This car is not practical, or economical it's not supposed to be. Go big or go home.
I was debating hard if I should get the Recaro seats in mine. It was close to $2000 extra. And my wife was the one who said "2 years from now will you be happier if you have them?" To which the answer was "YES" and the rest is history. Good call on her part.
If you only want it for 2 or 3 years, then you can go the least expensive route I suppose, but there are better options.
No seriously, congrats on whatever you go with AUB. They don't make a mustang in orange and blue, but they do make them in "crimson". lol
I recently drove the ecoboost and I think you wouldn't be at all dissatisfied with one of those. The V6 is good too as I own one of those and it has thus far been a great car.

I'll cherish that car buying experience, I couldn't afford to do that again unless I got rid of both vehicles and just got one. I'm hoping to pay this off before I get married. But what lady doesn't love a mustang.
I was worried at first with getting the navi just because one more thing to break but I had to have the vert and power to go with the race red paint. The heated seats are awesome and I think it's cool I can download music to the cars hard-drive.
So if your like some of us where were gonna keep them long enough to see our kids drive it on their prom night "if their lucky" I'd go get what you want. At least a 5.0. I think you'd just be happier in long run with that. If it's insurance your worried about, it will go down in next few years.
If you are just going to just car hop, maybe lease would be better?
RedGT has a good point, and this is why I made a half serious remark about real estate myself. I got my 2014 GT TP factory ordered for 33K in 2013. I saved up over 20k to put as a down payment over some time, but when it came down to it I looked at the numbers and it made more sense to put that money towards paying off my house instead.

What do you want to get out of your new Car? Muscle, Performance, Sport, Speed?
You have to ask your self what you want out of it?
If its speed and performance of a muscle car GT. If you want a performance looksing sport car but dont car about the speed then gt the V6. I have one of each and the V6 is no slouch.

Stay away from the Ecoboost nonsense unless you will be dumping the car in two to three years. The direct injection carbon build up problems have not been addressed by Ford and will cost you big repairs outside of 36K. Check out Youtube for more interesting videos of this engineering mess. The natural V-6 is the way to go unless you can swing the 5.0.
So he's talking financing 10 and gets 16 for his older car. That's 26. I just saw a 14 brembo track pack gt with 1500 miles selling for 27k.
Sounds like a good deal.
Just using that as an example

I'm still researching obviously. But yea, I had the FJ appraised for 16k from the local ford dealer. Apparently it's the #1 highest vehicle resale. I lucked out when I bought it in 08.
After my dad saw my mustang he got a craving to get one and went to a dealer near by and they had tucked in the back a new 2011 gt premium vert. They had it for 2 years. Could not sell it. They sold it for 34k with the sticker of 42k.
For a DD, get silver. Are you planning on modding? If so, you have more potential for power with the 2.3T, but better sound with the V6. And to be honest, you should price out insurance because the GT will not be much more - it's going to be high no matter which engine you choose, but your happiness can't be measured in dollars. I DD my GT and I wouldn't have it any other way, though I sometimes regret getting it over a Focus ST for a daily *family* car with my 11 month old

Either way! congratulations on graduating! When I finished school, besides marriage, my car was the next on the list of things to do but I didn't have an FJ. Those are awesome!
