A good friend of mine recently retired from FMC Dearborn he said he heard something about a flat eight engine that was in development something to replace the great Shelby engine Lets face it Ford is not going to sit by while its competitors Chevy ZL1 Z28, dodge Hell Cat pass them by. Whether its true or not expect to see something new
Definitely flat-plane crank, you'd never fit an actual flat 8 between the wheels of a Stang.
A flat crank configuration alone should reap some nice power/performance gains, It's not for no reason that Ferrari uses this configuration and they're getting in the high 500hp range out of their screaming 4.8L. Some of those Ring vids really do hint at a flat crank motor, what with the revs, throttle response and sound. I suspect that one of those Ring cars was a GT500 successor given its lumpier bent-crank note and FI/turbo whine (Egoboost 5.0?)

Too bad there isn't room for these on your cross-plane crank motors. They sound like a flat-plane crank motor which is enough for me.
