Snow Mustang

Just put Pirelli 'carving edge' snows on my 2015 stang with 19" performance wheels... Zero slippage on snow and ice... Pretty amazing... Less than $1,200 installed

I'm thinking blizzaks on my V6 15 mustang for the winters. Also thinking about getting the stock 17's as they will have a slightly narrower track which is more desire able in snow so I'll have to find a set of take offs somewhere as I want the 051A package which looks great on the V6- I just saw one today and I'm in love , plus I can afford it in a few months !!

I had a few cars with 19" wheels and snow/ice tires, no Blizzaks though because of price or particular size. The 19" width is not great for winter, but these new Pirelli tires are the best I had in that size. The last few days have been particularly 'slippery' in Minneapolis, yet there is almost no feeling of slippage. I had an AMG SLK with 18" and Blizzaks and they are truly amazing... i'd say the Pirellis are close if not equal.

No extra weight in the trunk? Just curious as to the weight distribution. It may be more equal with the IRS in the rear.

Hey, thanks for posting this. I was trying to decide what snow tires to get for the winter here in Philly. It's very helpful to have firsthand feedback. (whatever works for Minneapolis should be more than good enough for Philly).

So you didn't have to put any bricks in your trunk?

And have you tried using the wet/snow driving mode? Just curious if it helps or not.

Do you have manual trans?

I made it through 5 winters in NJ with the stock 18" Perellis and as long as you drive slow you should be fine. I have a 2015 and tried the snow/rain setting last week and it seemed ok. I think it controls the amount of torque the car puts out so even if you hit the gas hard the tires won't spin out. At least that's my take on it. I might be wrong.

Good to know, thanks. Maybe I'll wait to see how this winter goes first.

Still waiting for my order to go to production. It'll be a race to see which arrives first, the Mustang or the snow...

Good to hear about the Pirelli Carving Edge snows. I was leaning towards them for my new commuter car. I travel from 8500' to 5500' elevation on my commute from home to work, so there will be nice days in town that will be snowy by the time I get home.

I'm going to check to see if my 18" TSW Interlagos wheels will fit the 2015 (offsets are pretty close) once the car comes in. If the 18s work, that would help me to save a little on the snow tires, and help keep the mag chloride from trashing the 19" Performance wheels.
