Saw A 2015 on the Road Today

I was out and about today and saw a yellow 2015 on the highway headed in the other direction. At first I thought it might be a 2014 but there's no mistaking that 2015 front end. It's ugly. In person the 2015 looks like a 2014 with an ugly front end. I just wonder how this particular car is on the road so early? I thought production hadn't even really started as of yet. But there's no mistaking that front end.

I have read about several sightings in Michigan. More than likely test mules on the road.

I thought maybe a test mule as well but I'm here in north Alabama and while we have a sizable Mustang fan base and plenty of Mustangs on the road it doesn't seem like an area where they would run test mules. That is unless they are testing for humid driving conditions because God knows we have humidity by the metric ton. It could have been here as a demo for something given that the Ford dealer was just about three miles down the road.

Definitely not a Fusion. There is no mistaking the profile of the Mustang for the Fusion and they don't sell the Fusion in bright yellow.

Joking aside, cool that you spotted one. I have yet to see one on the road. Mustangs are the rare breed in northern NJ... Even current models.

I'm in the Morris County area and close to Warren and Sussex counties, and I see quite a few on the road. And some of the larger cruise events like Hackettstown, Boonton, and The Chatterbox in Newton always have a large Mustang turnout, second in number only to Corvettes.

Where in No Jersey are you?

Tom

See them fairly often here in Metro Detroit. For whatever reason they have been driving around downtown Brighton a lot. I wonder if an employee lives around here and is testing some out.

I see some, not many on the road. Mostly the 05-09 and older gens.

I think dealerships...or at least some of them....are getting a sneak peak look at some of the pre-production models. A Facebook Mustang group had a post from someone here in Iowa, with photos of a 2015 in Guard color he had spotted at Charles Gabus Ford in Des Moines earlier this week. The car had the Michigan manufacturers plates on it and the guys surrounding the car in the photos all had Ford shirts on. I suspect they were either Ford Corporate guys and/or the area Ford reps, taking the car around to some of the larger dealerships to show it off and let the dealership and sales folks have a look at it. This is speculation on my part, but the photos were real and I could easily identify the dealership from the photos...so I think my speculation is plausible.

Ford will bring preproduction models for us dealer types to check out in person. I remember back in 2010, they brought by a new Explorer for us to see in person and this was out in California. New model training for technicians and sales is handled online nowadays.

There is a 2015 at MustangWeek right now. It was spotted today at the Dyno Challenge, just saw that posted on Instagram
