Parts Supplier leaking 2015 information... ?
I cannot understand why anyone would get excited about a goofy faced slightly modified version of the current car.
It just reminds me of a classic episode of Bewitched concerning a painting of Mrs. Tate. The normal before and the goofy after.

That being said...i think it looks pretty good...and compared to the horrid looking evo hacks,i would be more then pleased if they take this direction rather then the evo way...
I just quoted the post so it would show the picture of the goofy rendering. However I am indeed referring to anyone including you who would or might get excited, aroused, stimulated or give any slight bit of favorable approval of the sight of that goofy looking rendering that is nothing more than a few manipulated lines of the current model.

Evo type styling I would consider a new approach.
From the Goofy look to Evo, I would pick EVO..
It cant be that bad of a design if other companies are using something similar.
It looks like a CARS version of the current Mustang......with baboon lips.
I think the Mustang will look as much like the Evos as the Fusion does. Not alike, yet loosely based off the same Evos design.

I'm new to these fora, so please understand that no offense is intended toward anyone, but I'm going to express my opinion on this one: After I saw the unveiling of the 1994 Mustang, part of me died. The 99-04 merely confirmed my worst fears. When the '05 showed up, I jumped for joy. Wasn't thrilled with the 10-13 rear corners, but it's growing on me.
To me, you make it too curvy, and you turn it into a non-Mustang. Make the roofline too low, ditto. Mustangs aren't supposed to be (in my book) BMWs or Porsches. If I wanted one of those, I'd have bought one of those. No. Sorry, but if Ford makes this look like some Euro-car, they're going to lose me. Of course, having just bought a 2013, I'm in for a while, but by the time this one is paid off, if they've turned it into another car with not much sign of its lineage, I'm out. There is a reason I owned a 79, an 88, an 89, and two 05s, and now two 2013s. Notice what isn't in that list. If I wanted a Volkswagon Beetle with a stretched hood, and mildly squashed roofline, I'd buy a Porsche.

^^^ Not to start anything, but as a Fox Mustang owner, when I saw the '79, '88, and '89 mentioned, had to scratch my head. IMO these cars were very Euro-influenced and have practically no visual cues inside or out associated with the classic Mustangs that came before it. I'd say the notchback Fox would come closest to the 1st-gen overall, but that would be a bit generous. However, their lightweight build (perhaps cheap?), low cost, and simplicity was in keeping with the original formula.
As far as using the EVOS/kinetic design language for the next Mustang is concerned, I think it is time to go in a new(er) direction as I feel "retro" is a bit played out at this point. Consider that none of the good-looking automotive icons/classics were considered "retro" when they were new. Just hope Ford gets it right with this one since this car will be a milestone for the company on so many levels.

Yes indeed the 1979 Mustang look very related to the redesigned 1977 Ford Granada of Germany and also Mercedes models of that era. The boxy designs of Fords was decided as a new global theme around the same time in Europe (77 Granada), North America (78 Fairmont) and Australia (79 Falcon)

1978 Ford Fairmont
11979 Ford Falcon

1979 Ford Mustang Notchback

1977 Mercedes Benz 450 SL
Hi5.0, I'm not going to argue it much. We all see different things. What made the Fox-bodies marvelous was US, the customizers, tuners, and so on, and that the basic platform remained unchanged for long enough that so many parts and things were developed that it remains its own cottage industry, twenty years after the fact. For me, having grown up with the models of the sixties and early seventies, when I saw the Mustang II, I scratched my young head. For me, the Fox body car was a step back in the right direction. Again, I won't over-argue the point, but what I love about the 2005-current cars is that they are unmistakably Mustangs(to me), even if you took every badge off of them. I would say that about the 79-93 cars, not the II's, and not the 94-04's. That's admittedly just how I see it.
When people say EVO they are referring to Ford's EVO concept car. It's supposed to have design ques that reflect the direction Ford is going with it's styling. Some like it, some hate it. The redesigned Mustang is supposed to have a few ques from it, I just hope it doesn't turn out looking too rounded and bubbly and look like an Accord or Genesis Coupe like some of these photoshops.
The Evos concept is featured in this thread, from post #8

Recent comments from Ford personal indicate the '15 Mustang will not be a Fusion/Evos clone. Which is a very good thing.

That said, the Mustang has always, to varying degrees, had European influence interwoven into its design language so it's always humorous to me how people whine about the new one not being "merrikan" enough...
I'm really baffled why anyone would think it would be. Are there people that actually think Ford is dumb enough to simply make the Mustang a Fusion coupe?

Other than the Fox body years (especially the '87-'93's) when the Mustang was quite similar to almost everything Ford built in the USA....the Mustang has been more of a stand alone vehicle in Ford's line up. Ford had other fastbacks/sportsroofs from '67 through the early to mid '70's with the Torino and Galaxie/LTD.....but no one would mistake a Torino, or especially a Galaxie/LTD, with a Mustang.
Frankly, I think the next Mustang will look more "European" (or what people perceive as European) than it does now. I'm confident some people won't like it (regardless of how good the car is) but I'm also confident there won't be any confusing it for any other Ford model. I think Ford is very aware of the importance of the Mustang.
The Mustang from the very beginning was meant to be an affordable, Euro-inspired sporty car (with some Lincoln thrown in too) for the blue-collar, everyman. If the Mustang is at least still "retro" in this regard, I think I'll be okay.
