Smile In my opinion...

Ford Motor Company, I'm very excited for this new car. You have no idea, after 10 years, and FINALLY you have done everything right. But... the only 1 thing I have a little issue is you have way to much going on with the 2 lights. Hopefully in the other various trims of the new car. Maybe you could just have 1 light. either the round light or the straight light. Have the option still for the 2 lights together for other people, but just not for me.

1. First picture

" I hope Ford, can do something like this with there lights which, I have circled.
"
2. Second picture

"The 2 lights, that I have circled. There is too much going on here. Like I mentioned. I hope you can fix this."

The straight light is the turn signal, so they're not going to eliminate that no matter what.

I am going to go ahead and throw my two cents in here. The cut out for the fogs is just way to big. Just imagine the cut out half as tall with the fog light being smaller and toward the front of the cutout and make the fog light housing the same color as the car helping it all flow together. The grill openings on the fusion and tuarus are very similar to the 2015 and they both have the smaller fog openings that blend way better with the nose.

It's too bad they couldn't integrate the turn signals in the DRL/gill lights.
Turn amber when you signal, back to white when not.

I'm hoping the aftermarket makes a smoked LED replacement for the turn signals. I don't care for the stock ones at all.

Well in 79-93 the fox didn't look anything like mustang either. Then it gradually became the new face of the icon. SN95 and New Edge followed the dimensions pretty much and just changed some sheet metal around and refinements. Not until 05 did they go back with some real retro cues. They are all accepted stang bodies. Except for the mustang II which will always be the bastard stepchild.

Pretty sure you can take that to the bank. Most likely the aftermarket world will be ready BEFORE it hits the showroom floors

I like the light "eyebrow" above the fog. I just wish they executed the details a little better.

There were/are just as many classic Mustang cues on the Mustang II as there is in the 2015. You guys are just too butthurt to see them.

Not a chance and likely any refresh, in 4 years, would move the styling forward rather than backwards.

I believe that S550's overall basic soundness--mechanically and stylistically--will create its own validation rather quickly, even among old war-horse baby-boomers buyers, rather than having to constantly milk off of some fabled golden yesteryear reminisces.

As for the specific stylistic details referred to in this post, I would agree that the execution is perhaps slightly awkward rather than fully and cohesively resolved. I would say that a bit more generally about both the front and rear lower valance areas in general, though hardly egregiously so, just not quite as cohesive as the rest of the design.

The Mustang is hardly unique in this though for, for reasons I’m not sure, a lot of designs seem to get a bit muddled in the front and rear valance areas for some reason – where they seem more an accumulation of slightly different design elements and themes rather than the product of a singular designer’s vision.

Perhaps competing technical and legal strictures tend to create this more committee-design look or something?

You mean like the '13/'14 backup lights that are white in reverse, or red when you hit the brakes?

To the OP, I hear what you're saying about the turn signal fog area being "busy", but I still like it better than picture1, and to be honest its not bothering me much. I think they nailed this new Mustang almost bumper to bumper (minor quibble would be 5.0 badge needs to be tweaked to fit modern look better and maybe minor tweak to rear spoiler).

Yeah something like that.
White for DRL, hit the signal and they blink amber.

it took three model years after a horribly received 2010 rearend for ford to change that, I wouldnt expect to see even that here...
while the initial release acceptance seems to still have landed with somewhat of a thud, its been 'not that bad' to the folks Ive spoken too. no homerun, but my gut feeling is thats not what ford wants in the mustang anyways... I think they hit exactly what they wanted- a car to carry the mustang name that looks a little more like all the other modern vehicles, yet carries a little bit of mustang cues well enough that the worst reaction is 'not bad'- even if most of the good reactions are 'not bad' too... more contemporary, yet with a fastback roofline- and whatever skin they put on it, rest assured it will be a screamer.

even as well received as the 05 styling was, sales didnt go thru the roof- I *think* in fords eyes subtle cues to a more generic canvas seems the corporate way to go- look how many newer cars of any make carry similarities.
90% of the offerings out there are round roofed sedans, they all sell decent numbers. fusion-like noses(15), followed explorer-like bodyside creases(10), and overall the lineup looks better- however us oldschool/butthurt/babby boomer whiners might not like one-size-fits-all styling moving to the mustang...
I do hope ford does well with the new model, but can pretty securely say unless things change a lot, I'll never be buying 3 mustangs in 4 years again... if I put new mustang money into finishing my 69, odds are I'll never buy another new one- but I felt that way when I saw the pre-05 mach1 (03/04?) I liked the shaker hood, but not enough to get the car... then I saw the 05 and about went mustang broke...just paid the last one off, almost stopped by the dodge dealer yesterday- but no- I gotta get my 69 back together.
hate to admit, but if I were to go shopping today, it would be a challenger- even if its a dodge, which I would expect issues with. dodge just always seems to have unusual things fall apart.

anyways, sorry for writing a book again, but I highly doubt much changes are going to occur quickly- aftermarket will pick it up, maybe ford will see theres a lot of aftermarket money they are letting go due to not enough options, but I doubt it...

still cant wait to see one in real life, probably at the cleveland show in feb.
