Lock Down Commencing in 3...2...
I'm excited to see a new design direction. I love almost all Mustangs from 1965 to the present day (I guess the Cobra II is ok...) I think the first gen car was great. I'm not a huge fan of the Mustang II years but at the same time I really don't like anything from the automotive world from that period, rare exotics included. The fox cars were cool for the time period. Fox Mustangs, 3rd gen F-bodies and the Gran National were cool 80s cars. My biggest criticism of the Fox body was they kept it around for too long. I have a soft spot in my heart for the 4th gen cars considering I own one of each body style for that generation. I think these cars were still modern looking for the time with cool retro themes. This is something I hope Ford decides to do with the next generation car. I do like the 2005-11 cars but at the same time the wow factor is gone. Retro cars usually have a short life span, I think you can make it modern but keep certain Mustang traits alive (3-bar tail lamps, pony in grille, long hood short deck, maybe find a way to keep the fastback profile...
Anyways, I'll leave it at that.

Quick update on 2014!
Alright so last week I was talking with my operations manager at my store(I work in retail) about cars and the ones he owned back in the day. Then we started talking about the Mustang and its heritage, and if he wanted to he could get one with A-plan---at which point I asked him if he knew someone within Ford. His reply was yes and that it was his son-in-law that works in the uaw and his job is to install manufacturing equipment in the factories. This got me really interested at which point I asked him if he would kindly ask him if he knew what model year is the 50th anniversary Mustang. At that point my manager called him up but he didn't pick up, so he left him the message and that he would let me know what his answer was.
Fastfoward to today and I saw my ops manager as I was leaving and I asked him if he heard from his son-in-law and he said he did, and that he said the 50th anniversary Mustang is MY2014!! Not making this up and I have no reason to but just got plain lucky working with a manager whos son-in-law works within the rank and file. At some point the official answer to this model year anniversary debacle will be answered by Ford.

So I just heard the official Ford public announcement via Bloomberg news brief for the (quoting) ''redesigned version of its Mustang sports car, but Ford's VP says you'll have to wait for the 2014 model - and that revamped Mustang will honor the Mustang 50th anniversary".

With all this talk about 2014 being the new model I wonder when we will start seeing camo clad mules with fresh sheet metal. When did the 2010 mules pop up? I'm thinking late 2008? maybe earlier?
DISLIKE
the mustang needs a diet, but then again so do all the "performance" cars besides the vette....the vette is the athlete right now and this is coming from a Cobra owner....wake up Ford
i heard Donald Farr speak at one of the local Mustang meetings this summer say that Ford wants to hear from the YOUTH....guess ill keep the Cobra i boguht in 03 Mr. Farr, but next year its an M3 i will buy with my enlistment bonus

Might have something to do with all the obese drivers in America.

Shame on you. Taking from the American taxpayer and giving it to a German Auto corporation.
Regardless of who you're pointing your American taxpayer purchased rifle at.
In quick summary this is what I think of what will happen with the next 'stang: Ford will use an updated d2c but think of it as version2.0. It'll be lighter, stronger, and more sophisticated. Suspension wise I'am thinking virtual pivot control borrowed from Australia for the front suspension. For the rear most definitely the control blade irs. Styling wise I think we can all expect some Aston Martin in there
This has been brought up numerous times but I still don't get how a MY2014, with a release in Spring 2013(?), makes more sense than a MY2015, with a release in Spring 2014, if they're wanting to release on the 50th anniversary. I never thought much about the other anniversary models but is Ford marketing really so dumb as to not recognize that there was no Mustang MY1964?
But there are people out there quoting sources saying is will be a 2014MY car! Not 2015. And 2014 mean it will be out in 2013. And I just don't believe it no matter what source says they heard it from who till I see it from Ford.
