Here kitty kitty.

So I have read the many comments about the 2010+ improvements that need to be made, like telescopic wheel, seat memory and such. I have even suggested crazy features like a leather trimmed dash or even suede. So I just wondered, would anyone be interested in Mercury bringing back a Mustang variant in more luxo form ala Cougar?

I know I should have probably searched as this has more than likely been done before. If it's a beaten horse, I'm sorry.

Off topic, I sure see a lot of Cougars here in Dallas.

Ha, screw it, we'll call it a Lincoln!

Like that would sell.

Much like the Pontiac G8, had Ford done Mercury right some time back and offered a Cougar XR7 based on the Mustang platform, Mercury might not be being beheaded right now. As with any fruit left on the vine, Mercury just rotted.

i think they should stretch the next gen mustang platform and add rear doors have an agile 3 series competitor with the 3.5 ecoboost. or the 5.0. although the M3 sedans did not sell that well i guess so the market might not be there.

Maybe not a Mustang sedan, but had Mercury not faded into the abyss, a four-door coupe based on a stretched Stang chassis would make for an interesting neo Cougar. Or perhaps a neo Lincoln LS?

Whoa, that's so far wrong it's not even right.

Ford 500 (now Taurus) was built off the Volvo S80 platform, which underpins the Flex (Taurus X, etc) and MKZ as well. It's a transverse front engine front drive platform with AWD as an option.

Although there was that concept Interceptor a few years back built off a stretched Mustang, if I remember.

i think lincoln made a mistake canceling the LS. that was a great car. i think they should have refreshed it completely for 2006.

how can you kill something that doesn't exist?? i was referring to an incremental vehicle based off the next gen mustang platform. that is what this thread is about? correct?

I love the Mustang, but I've always loved mid-sized Muscle cars. I wish Ford would bring back the Torino.

A larger Mustang with more luxury features, but the same rumble underneath? Sounds like Mid-size North America Project #13? Bring back my wings!
