GT350 Steering Wheel Install - 2015-16 Mustang
This is for the part number FR3Z-3600-AC. This was a Christmas present from my wife who got LMR to deliver a Christmas Miracle to get it to our house on Dec-30. First of all, mad props to BackInBlack on mustang6g.com. (not sure I can call out another forum, if that breaks an etiquette rule?!?) Without his instructions, I would not have had a successful installation.
BackInBlack definitely has the best instructions. So my advice is to read his, and follow them. I wanted to know certain details not covered that I could find is the reason for posting this. This was my experience and what I saw when working with the steering wheel controls.

I bagged the 8 screws circled using a T20 Torx screw driver. I did pay attention to where the silver headed screws were, and made sure I used them in the same locations for the re-install.
I did not pay to much attention to the dark headed screws. The reason I am mentioning this, is that during re-install they went back in, but went in fighting. I triple checked that I was not cross threading them. That was odd.

In the picture you can see that the two hand controls for the left hand car computers settings and right hand audio controls have been removed. In order to pop them up, I gently used a thin putty knife on the outer ends furthest out from the hub of the steering wheel.
There is a .75 inch tab on the top side of each set of controls. I gently, very gently, used the putty knife to get under the controls at the outside end and then slowly worked the control up/down left/right until the tab released. Very gentle, as I did not know what it looked like underneath and how it was pinned.
Please look at the pictures I provided to see what it looks like.

The next pictures are showing more of the controls and finish parts. The wire connectors seemed to come off easy enough depressing the tabs to release them.
To reinstall them, the leads are short, making the angle and amount of play in the connector a little difficult to go back on. I ended up taking the GT350 steering wheel in the house, putting it on a work bench to get the connectors set properly.

Everything I did to un-install and de-connect all the controls were done in reverse order to get the gt350 wheel installed.
It did take me about 2-3 hours, but I have some medical issues that causes me to need to take more breaks than the normal person. I also move very slow, making sure I understand what I need to do. I definitely recommend installing yourself. If I can do it, just about anyone can. I am very happy with the steering wheel.

Thanks PA-Fatboy! Just installed the GT350R steering wheel this weekend from CJ Pony parts (shipped quicker than originally estimated). Both your posts and referenced BackInBlack were extremely helpful. Knowing ahead of time I needed the T-20 torx and 24mm socket made it go smoothly. Only difference, I found it much easier to follow FPP instruction order removing the steering wheel before diving into the controls. Much easier to do all that sitting at the kitchen table than on the car.
-Kept the chrome bezels from original wheel since they matched the door bezels.
-Red stitching and red sight line look killer with Race Red car.
-GT350 guys... I bet you could get the red stiching+sight line R wheel and recoup most of your money by selling original GT350 wheel to us GT guys.
-Like BIB, I too have a 2014 Takata airbag. Anyone know when they fixed the propellent issue?
