Flip Flop...
So as of June 17th 2011...here is what I think I know (subject to change without notification)...apologies for some misinformation that may have been posted from my other sources. (They still say MY2014)
All this may change between then and now...(Due to econ/sales/Flat Rock/etc.)
The next all new Mustang will be MY2015...It will go on sale in Spring 2014...March/April (17th) timeframe...
Ford will keep its Job1/2 dates on an early schedule.
Spring 2011 :MY2012
Spring 2012 :MY2013
Spring 2013 :MY2014
Spring 2014 :MY2015
When J Mays spoke about "approaching 2013, you'll see a very cool Mustang" the 2013 LA Auto Show comes to mind...There will be no concept version seen before it debuts...
Ford also wants to come out with more Special Editions on the S197 platform...if this means the 50th Anniversary badges end up on the last 2014 S197 is still anyones guess. Stay tuned....

I think Mays may have been talking about the 2013 updates ...
Edit: Reading how the timing will work, kinda makes sense.
Autoshow season for 2014 starts in LA late 2013...
Derp.

With regards the "issue" of Mazda pulling out of Flat Rock. One upside mentioned was the line could be flexible for more Mustang variations................could the rumoured sister coupe from Lincoln be built on the same line? It would make sense and, at least partly, fill the Mazda 6-sized void.
As for TN's dates, above? All makes perfect sense to me

Global Stang would kick Global M3's A$$...Flat Rock needs another car...but if Ford decided to build a Coupe, Convertible and a Hatchback version...they could sell 150,000+ worldwide...
I have no inside information. However, I think Topnotch is right on target for the timeline for new Mustang model introductions. Just from what information is leaked on new Mustangs would indicate the all new Mustang would not arrive untll 2014 as Model year 2015.
if the 50th anniversary winds up on the S197, here is what my hopes would be for - doubt any of it will happen, just my wishful thinking :
1) new rear bumper/taillights, deeply recessed more like a 67
2) deepdish bullitt style factory wheel option
3) smaller v8 option than the 5.0 - a simpler drivetrain option to get the cost of a stripper V8 mustang back down closer to 25k- way undercutting the competition... something that could sell in real volume with looks/sound/feel of the traditional ponycar
4) for those willing to foot the bill for the option, the hurricane was designed to be 7.0 litre optional...thats 429 old fashioned cubic inches, and the S197 might be the last chassis with that huge of a engine bay...its time
wouldnt that be great if they had cheap/fun/v8 the average working guy or gal could easily afford, and a BOSS302, and a BOSS429...to me thats what my idea of the perfect mustang combo would be...

I doubt a smaller V8 engine would be cheaper, unless they threw in the SOHC 4.6. As near as I can tell, the Econoline van is the only vehicle that still uses it. I'm pretty sure it will be replaced there soon. Even if Ford kept building the 4.6 and offered it in the Mustang, it wouldn't be five grand cheaper than the Coyote. I'm afraid that if you want a $25K pony car, you're just going to have to settle for a V6.
