Took my new 2022 GT to back road to check out how it launches as if at drag strip. Tried it in Sport plus (traction control on) and drag strip
mode (traction control off). Kinda disappointed in both, no traction issues either way and my 2011 GT, which I traded for the 2022, would have kicked its
butt right off the line. I'm sure the 2022 would blow by it eventually (am I sure?). The 2011 ran 13.3 at the strip, and from what I've been reading, a 2022 A10
should run low 12's. That remains to be seen. Just thought I'd pass this on. Any thoughts? (Trying to get some dialog going in this forum other than a stupid
garage door opener).
Yeah, traction is a complicated beast. My 93 Cobra was getting its butt kicked by Camaros due to inability to get car to move instead of spinning, and that was before the
supercharger. Then I got slicks and goodbye Camaros. These new ones must have such sophisticated suspensions and controls that even with so much
more horsepower (albeit heavier) its not such an issue. Still, I was surprised that the 2011 was so much quicker off the line. Still figuring out line lock, launch control
and perfect combo of settings. Kinda miss the old school techniques (maybe because I'm old). I can appreciate your traction issues with your GT500.
I still haven't tried any of the other modes yet, drag or even sport or something. Just everything thing on in normal. Haven't even matted it from a dig or 1st gear, it must know it'll have trouble because I matted it doing 15 mph and it still only dropped to 2nd and launched.
Curious to follow this thread to learn a few things. Thanks for your info, sorry I can't add anything yet.
I think it will surprise you, traction control is very effective, maybe too effective. Its fun to try the different settings (and frustrating) and be
ready when the right situation presents itself (Camaro in other lane). I know everyone has different purposes for their cars, but once in a while
its fun (and rewarding) to utilize what the car can do. Have fun!
That's all mine is, a sunny day toy for fun. I know its got a lot more in it with the nannies off because I can feel the TC struggling to keep it hooked, rear wiggle trying to step out, then can tell it's pulling boost and timing until it's rolling out pretty good, then it shoves you into the rear seat about 4500 RPM and never stops pulling until you back out of it.
Ahh, so you do get into it once in a while. Sounds like you have a real beast. Got to let it out occasionally, and if you embarrass a
MoPar or Bowtie, so much the better.

Not once in a while, it gets redlined in several gears every time it's out. Still less than 400 miles though, it got matted to redline in 2 gears before it had 12 miles on it .
I know there's a lot faster cars out there, but for being stock it's pretty dang fast. Just been waiting to try out some of the modes til I get more familiar with it, because fast as it is with everything on, I know it's a handful from a dig with all that off.
oh, my bad, didn't realize the situation. Only 400 mi, even less than what I put on them. You must have a
GT500, huh? Lots of potential heroics with that. I think the key is figuring out which mode is best with what kind of tires.
With yours, you might need slicks to get full potential out of it, something you probably wont do unless you go to a track.
It makes your situation more complex than mine. Traction, traction, traction, the key to all drag racing. Good luck with your
experimentation. Just glad we're talking about something more Mustang related than garage door openers.
Yeah, 22 GT500. Not my first Shelby and definitely not my first fast Mustang, have had them for decades, stock, modified, built, built to the point of not being enjoyable for cruising. so it's not my first rodeo. This one is just different. Really fast car out of the box for sure.
Not first rodeo? Man, you are a professional cowboy. Beautiful car. You've obviously had a few, but this one is top of the
line. If you have a local drag strip, it would be real hard not to get out there. That's where you can pin down the best set up
for the different modes and settings. Real world info, plus have a ball doing it. Great car man.
Thank you, good to see you still around, but I forgot your name while I was gone.
It's pretty basic, just the things I wanted. Electronics package for the heated and cooled power memory seats, the manual recaros were just not comfortable for my old bones, handling package for the oil separator and strut tower adjustment, and stripes, which I think makes a Shelby.
Forgot about the carbon fiber interior package, liked that too, so has everyone that's seen it.
Only took a freaking year from ordering to delivery to get it

Dont know what I was doing different, but was playing around with modes and launch options and even in normal mode when I turned
the traction control off and launched it was so violent and fast I actually had to let off, starting to lose control. I read that in drag mode
the traction control is automatically off, but not sure thats true. The launch in drag mode was noticeably better when I manually turned
traction control off. Track apps was giving me 4.8 sec 0 to 60 before, but I'm sure it will be better next time out. Going to track next month
so will get real meaningful numbers then. (It's a 2022 GT btw).
