Countdown......
Countdown......
Thought it might be interesting to pace out the significant and likely timeline leading up to the launch of the '15. These are my thoughts based on previous introductions, but I'd be interested to see what you think, especially from those that "know about these things"
September 2012
TT's gettin' impatient
April/May 2013
First heavily camo'd S550 mules spotted hot/cold weather testing
Jan/Feb 2014
"Cow camo paintjob" S550 mules spotted on the streets of Detroit
April 2014
Mustang S550 launched to co-incide with the 50th birthday celebrations.
Do we think we'll get any sneak peaks at either the Detroit ('13) or New York (Jan '14) Auto Shows. I know we're not expecting a concept car, but will they wait for April 17th to show us anything? I guess if they leave it until the 17th, that would have to be a joint reveal at both MCA events, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway

I think a full year of camo'd mules seems a bit excessive, but I'd sure enjoy trying to imagine what was under the camo.

I can definitely see mules being out there for a while. spy photographers are going to be all over it because of the significance. Also with a major update they will need all new hot and cold weather testing data. I could see a round of spy pics of the heavy camo mules out and about in the spring/summer 2013 then the swirly wrap in the fall. before a detriot/LA debut.

"In any event, it won’t be long before we find out. The first Mustang made its debut at the 1964 World’s Fair New York on April 17th, which just happens to be one of the dates set for press previews at the 2014 New York Auto Show"
Do we believe this will be the "official" unveiling of the car? Seems to far off in the future too fit the production of the 2015MY. Could it be a miss print?
Anyone know of or how an idea how the timeline might go?
Besides, shouldn't the 50th be 2014MY?

Thanks for the link. Interesting article. The NY show being held in April was one I missed, so that seems the most likely place for the new car to be launched.
As to the 50th being a 2014MY? No, the first cars were '65MYs (the VINs started with a 5)......the early cars became known as 64.5s after the event
Someone had mentioned in another thread a 2014.5MY, and given the way marketing is today, I wouldn't doubt if Ford went that way!
Depends on how they use it.
It distracts from the camera, and if the tape is used to 'hide lines' by actually changing the shape of them...
I have a feeling we'll be seeing heavily camo'd this time. Like when the 05s were first shown.

Based on what I see. I know folks don't like change. But, given what Ford has said about getting away from retro and go more European and still keep the stangs basic cues, I think this is a beautiful way to go. Time will tell. lol

We have seen nothing publicly indicating anything of the sort.
The rest is speculation.
See the 'going European' in previous threads and responses.
