Base Rear Bumper Valance Blackout

Hi Guys -
Painted my rear valance today. Since I bought the car I thought it looked a bit unfinished - now it matches the rockers. Cost me $40 DIY. Let me know what you think.
Thanks for looking,
John

I bought a black 2015, don't need this, but I wish ford would have made all of the rear valances black, just looks right.

Nice! Did you just use regular spray paint or plastidip?

I used a paint made for bumpers because I wanted it to have a satin finish (not flat) and also had a flex agent in it. We'll see how it holds up - I'll report back in a month or so. Other guys have used plati-dip with success as well.

That looks great. The painted valance looks weird, and seems like it would take a lot of abuse and show dirt.
Did you remove it for refinish? If so how hard was it to get off?

Thanks Guys -- No I did not remove the bumper at all. Just taped off the bumper, which is really easy because there is a good hard line where the bumper valance begins. Taped off the reflectors and back up light, draped towels over the mufflers, and covered the entire car with a plastic drop cloth. Whole job start to finish took about 4 hours, including clean-up.

Looks much better. I sometimes wonder what the designers are thinking. Why not make them all the same?

It's not always the designers, sometimes it's the bean counters saying that they would get more people buying the premium version if the base model looked cheaper ie. the painted rear valance.
