I finally saw a convertible '15 here in town the other day....sweet!

 

Does look good :thumbsup:

 

But there are no keys.

 

I imagine that for Caleb Johnson, the second best thing to winning American Idol has to be landing the keys to a brand new 2015 Mustang convertable.

It certainly appears that way after Johnson was finally able to pick up his new black Mustang GT, one of the prizes he earned after winning the show’s 13th-season last year.

Judging from the smile on Johnson’s face, it looks like it was well worth the wait.

Of course, the rocker also now has his own album titled, Testify, which I imagine will get a lot of play in his newconvertible. And who knows, maybe on his next album we’ll get a song inspired by his new ride.

Well, technically it comes with a "key blade" for locking/unlocking the door if the battery is dead or disconnected.

The cover on the back half of the driver's door handle can be removed to use the physical key.

 

So its a key and not keys??

Eh, people will probably talk about car keys long after its ancient history. You still "dial" a phone despite dials having long since disappeared.

 

And now that I picked up my mustang yesterday....

I did get a key w/ my 2 FOBs.
Found it fits the glove box so far, need to see what else it fits.

 

My guess would be that it fits the door also in case of a dead battery and the car is locked. I believe there is a removable cap on the rear side of the handle for unlocking in these situations.

 

Just opened one of the FOB's and compared the cut. Yep, same cut on the keys.
And yes there is a cap on the door handle.

 

Oh wow, I didn't realize that backup key was stored inside of the fob as well. Very cool.

I think I read in the owner's manual pdf I found that there is a lock inside of the door jam that takes the key... but I might have been dreaming.

edit: it's on the door itself, right above the latch. It is there so you can manually lock both doors if the battery is removed. It's on page 58-59 of the manual.
