2022 Release time frame?

Usually the new cars seem to roll out in August / September

but that’s not happening this year. When I was at the dealership yesterday inquiring about ordering a new car, they said they were still taking orders for 2021s.

when I asked about the 2022 model lineup, no one seemed to know - (or they couldn’t say)

any ideas?

There's a shortage of parts, mostly the chips to run the cars and their bells and whistles like turn signals and brake lights. Supposedly there's a backlog of actually built '21s hanging around waiting for computers to make them work. Whatever's the truth the '22s aren't going to be any sort of priority until the '21s are less stagnant.

I advice patience with the situation, but don't know what a '22 is going to have that a '21 isn't? The redesign is the '23 model year, supposed to debut halfway+ 2022. I'd say if you're ordering one, find one via the Ford.com portal and have it shipped to your dealership in question, or better yet, just go get it there. Road trip!

Well, I got my answer today.

I spoke with the Sales Manager who was going to order my new GT premium, with Performance Pack, active valve exhaust, fancy stereo etc - We sat down to build my car (I had a printed sheet directly from the Ford site), and he couldn’t check the performance pack option.

He called his Rep, who said they were no longer building 2021 GT’s with performance packs, so I’ll have to wait for a 2022 model

He also found out they are taking orders for 2022 Mustangs -after- October 11th

the rep also said they probably won’t start building GT’s until November, which means my new 2022 won’t be in my garage until early Spring (Feb. he was guesstimating)

I’m just putting this out in case anyone else was curious or thinking about the same thing

Meanwhile, I sold my 2014 to him for more money than I bought it, 4 years ago

FYI

They told me they will not start building the HP cars until March, so the wait continues

Are there any 22's on the road? Anyone else order a 22? Please let us know your wait time. My order reached Ford on Monday for an Eruption Green GT. Only one option = Autotrans. I was told 3 to 4 months.

The dealership also said Ford was considering building drivable cars so customers could actually get them, then send chips to the dealership later for installation (when the chip is available). Let’s say you have a car with heated seats- you would get your car now, but the heated seat may not work until they ship the chip to the dealership. I think GM is doing this already.

My search for 100 mile radius does show some 2022's on the lots. I am sure they are asking 5 k or more over sticker.

I wonder if calling Ford world headquarters would get you any better information.

I'm actually a ford tech. Ordered a 22 premium yesterday. Sales manager said remote start and b and o sound were not available as options. I ordered it in grabber blue. 401a. Midnight blue with grabber blue stitch and recaros. 10 speed auto. Performance pack and active valve exhaust.. Also said that he estimated it to be an 8 week wait for it to come in. We will see.

congrats Seclusioned! No remote start bummer. That comes with the auto trans usually. I hope I get mine.
