2017 - Door Locks - Help!

Hello - I just purchased a 2017 Mustang. I'm a bit confused about one feature. How do I unlock the doors from the inside while the car is running? Like to pick up a passenger? I get that it auto-locks when I drive, and will auto-unlock when I stop, turn it off and get out. But when I'm just picking someone up, like my kid from school, and I don't want to turn off the ignition and open the driver's door, how do I unlock it? The buttons on the door don't work. I've been having to reach across and open the door from the inside. My arms really aren't long enough to do that, plus it's just stupid, so I figure there has to be an easier answer.

Put it in park? Don't know that I've come across any time that I haven't had the doors stay locked when I want them unlocked.

That is an odd one for sure. Consult owners manual?

Page 54:

Switch Inhibitor
When you electronically lock your vehicle,
the power door lock button and interior
luggage compartment release button, after
20 seconds, no longer operate. You must
unlock your vehicle with the remote
control, or switch on the ignition, to restore
function to these buttons. You can switch
this feature on or off in the information
display. See General Information (page
81).

Page 81 starts talking about the settings accessed via the steering wheel. Page 87 has more.

It's an old thread, so this won't be seen as anything other than a bit of humor
