Indeed, the similarities are there, obviously.

But notice the front lower bumper differences. The SN95 has a cleaner look, more like the rest of the car. Flowing. Works.

The headlamps of the '15 are stretched back, kind of like a person who's had just a tad too much plastic surgery. Also, they're cut to go upwards instead of downwards at the ends, which looks just a little odd. They should be straight-ish, or turn downwards. But that's a minor quibble, that's livable, overall.

It's the lower grill/bumper up front. Too busy. Too foward jutting. Too jowly.

Just... too much. Not clean.

I understand it's aerodynamics to get a few percentage points of MPG at cruise...

...but it's a Mustang. Give me a break. Clean it up.

Excepting that lower grill/bumper, there is nothing I don't like about '15 Mustangs. Not. One. Thing. Love the car, it's making me think about getting one... but Awesome wouldn't want a stablemate, really. She doesn't mind the motorcycle, but it'd be her or the 15.

I'm keepin' her. So there ya go.

Well... maybe the AL hood is also a problem for me, because histories of AL and Ford paint, but that's it, really.

/These are, of course, just my humble opinions on the matter, and if'n you all be likin' the busybody front as it is, then great! I'm glad you like it!

I still think the SN95 looked better. I see the similarities though.

I don't know what it was about the SN95, but it was my all time favorite Mustang body style. Late model S197 was second favorite.

Agreed. I wish they'd flip the grille back over, and while they're at it, flip the headlights over too. Can someone photoshop that?

Well, if you wanna get all *technical* about it...

I gotta tell ya, I was going down the freeway passing Champion Ford in Katy, and they have an Oxford White '15 on the lifted rotisserie..

It. Is. GORGEOUS, overall.

2015 is a nice looking car it's just not muscley enough for me, too smooth, too futuristic.
Not everyone shares the same taste in cars (shocking I know), when i think mustang I don't think soft curves, european looks and a quiet plushy ride... I'll just leave this right here.

R.I.P. "muscle mustang"

That's a nice looking CS. That old factory building looks very familiar, and I see you're from NJ.

Whereabouts?

I was torn on the 2015.. Until I went to my dealership to get an oil change on my 2005 Mustang GT Vert and they had a few 15s for me to look at. Needless to say I left there in a Cab with a check for my 05 and a 15 on order.

Yup, I ordered a Black GT Premium Convertible fully loaded (all options except Adaptive Cruise Control and 50th Anniversary package) with 19" painted aluminum wheels.

I'm still on the fence about the 15. I've seen and sat in one at the auto show, and stopped and looked at a few at a dealer the other day. It just doesn't thrill me, like the outgoing gen does. For me, the worst part is the front end. Still looks a bit like a blowfish to me. Anxious to see the '16 GT350, tho. Also, ....still need to drive the new generation.

Yes, that was an interesting read, I wonder how the guys that hated the S550 feel about it today. I know some people consider the S-197 the last Mustang true to its heritage. My one post in the thread seems to be ripping on the 5th gen Camaro for a dated look (for whatever reason). In any event I remember test driving a 15 GT and what sold me on the new car were the brakes and steering. I ordered a met guard 15' GT premium with the PP1 package and ended up loving how the IRS allowed the car to rotate so well despite not being onboard with the IRS. Miss my S-197s but I don't regret the S550s and when the GT350 is paid off I'll look into an S650 DH.

The S550 has grown on me over the years; mostly due to the 2018 face-lift (front end of earlier years was too bulbous for my tastes) ... if I could find what I would consider an affordable good deal on a GT350 or Mach 1, I might consider buying one

I Don't Know About anybody Else But I Surely Know The 2004 Version of Myself Looked & Performed a Hell of a Lot Better than My 2024 Version. Thankfully My 2007 Car Has Held The Test of Time Much Better! While a Horsepower Upgrade Back in The Day Was a Consideration My Reflexes Now Say 500+ Is Plenty! Knee's Still Able To Handle The 6 Speed Stick!

Car Gets Plenty of Thumbs Up These Days! Always Liked Driving Something 10+ Years Older! It Will Be a Classic Before You Know It!

The S550 has also grown on me as well. I strongly agree with your choice in preferable models of the generation. But, I was behind a very nice pre-2018 S550 GT today and it sounded and looked great. Was wondering how mine would look sitting next to that one, and which one I would pick since I could only have one. I am pretty sure the right one is in my garage.

Yeah, that's something you embrace as you get older, instead of too much power is never enough, it's as much as the chassis can handle. Of course, the difference between then and now and seeing a few friends end up in the skull orchard makes you realize you're not as invulnerable as you thought. Also, power to weight becomes meaningful. I read a comment elsewhere talking about enthusiasts tend to prefer a p/w (crank hp/curb weight) between 10/1 to 5/1 which checks, also people in general tend to find anything more than 1g of sustained acceleration (lateral and longitudinal) uncomfortable so anything that pulls more becomes largely academic and only really useful for stats wagging.
