Carbon Fiber Mustang? Take my money.

I know the picture is of an RTR-C, but the idea itself sounds great.

Seems at least plausible that the 2015 Mustang might sport this technology...

Isn't Vaughn Gitton Jr.'s Coyote carbon fiber and weighs in at 2400lbs or something like that?

I think it's interesting that in the name of emissions and economy standards sports cars in general seem to be going 'back to their roots' so to speak. That is to say, smaller, lighter, and with smaller engines. Now I love my V8 muscle cars or I wouldn't own a mustang GT, but this whole "smaller-lighter-lower displacement" thing excites me at the same time. I've always maintained that cars like the Miata, S2000, etc are some of the funnest cars there are to drive and I'm all for more lightweight sports cars in the future.

As long as they can keep the costs in check despite all the fancy tech like carbon fiber.

This isn't making the whole car CF, it's making some components CF
(Low cost CF) that they've negotiated with this company (Dow)

And no it won't double the cost

if it only adds 7500 to the price thats fine(still almost 1/3 cost increase).

.
We are talking mass production here.
I highly doubt Ford would increase any of the vehicles 7500 dollars.

We are talking about saving weight of about 200+lbs (depending on the vehicles) and that includes any added weight due to any changes including safety equipment.

We aren't talking about making a Taurus weigh like a Miata here...

I was thinking more of the mustang. It would be a really great car if it could get under 2900 lbs
