Nothin big, just some small things to set itnapart from the previous year but still be the same car

The plastic "diaper" and other plastic on the 2011 actually looks really good if you get it painted!!! I love it

Paul, that GT500 interior is basically the current 300A/400A interior. Seats look real similar. I wouldn't mind adding some color, maybe dark gray or silver inserts.

Twin Turbo Feb 26, 2011 09:40 AM

D'oh, thanks Steve. I obviously need to read up on the latest specs.....I didn't realise those were available! Seems all the 2010s/11s in the UK have been specced with black interiors, some with the odd single blue or cashmere stripe :)

Twin Turbo Feb 27, 2011 04:34 AM

Something that would be very useful for Mustangs (unofficially) imported into the UK would be turn signals built into the wing mirrors.....but I won't hold my breath.

This is the neatest modification I've seen yet.....but it's not cheap :)

Nicely "smoothed out" rear end. Shows what's possible without sheet metal changes :)

Photo shamelessly stolen from another thread on here. The car is at the Detroit Motorama :)

That rear end is **** nice. What thread was that from if you remember? I can't find any info on it anywhere.

First spyshot!

OK, only joking, this was a PS from when the 2010 was first launched. Can't remember who did it (looks like a TopNotch job) :)

That is PRECISELY what I'd do for a minor refresh: change the tail lights to a rectangular-ish shape and maybe some little changes inside.

2013 MY is a chance to right the (few) wrongs with the current car. I already love the current car, so a few nip n tucks have me very excited for what is likely to be the last S197.

:)

Sorry to get off track, but if I had to guess, I'd wager that the exterior design of the next car hasn't been finalized yet.

We never had two-stage heated seats. They were in a couple of the teaser pictures leading up to the 2010 reveal, but they apparently got left on the cutting room floor, as none of the production (or pre-production, for that matter) cars had them.

Do not particularly want.

On a side note. Seeing as how I am figuring that my next vehicle with be an automatic again, I would really appreciate some paddle shifters or even a sport shift mode with the selector. It's looking like more and more that I will go back to a 2 car situation that both my wife and I can drive either. But the Mustang will at least be a little prize for myself. Even if it's an auto. That's all I'd like, just some sport shift option. Especially with firmed up shifts via programmer.

This. Since the 6R80 seems to be a rebadged ZF transmission (the ratios are the same as the ZF 6-speed), I don't why Ford couldn't add a SelectShift function to it. Use the gate from the Fusion Sport, but with the manual gate oriented towards the driver instead of the passenger. I know Ford has rev matching downshift software/code in the SHO, so I don't see why it couldn't come over to the Mustang, along with adaptive shift logic, which is used in several other cars, including the Camaro and Challenger.

I agree. Just adding paddles and/or the button on the shifter is weak. I'd much rather see the DCT make its debut in the autos, but we might not see that til '15.

That was one of Car & Driver's gripes with the new Focus, the button on the shifter, and that car has a DCT. I honestly do not understand why Ford (and GM) went that route; it seems really silly. I'm not sure we're going to see DCT's in the Mustang in 2014/15, though; high torque dual clutch transmissions are still pretty new and expensive (ask any Porsche 911 Turbo owner).

I know where they were from, but I think that it's silly to not have them. Plenty of other Ford vehicles use a dual-stage heat element, and the Mustang should follow suit. I'd expect there's an existing solution already available in the family somewhere.

Agree with you on that one, is that a conversion kit that's available to the general public ? And if so how much does a kit like that go for.

I know that Mustangs sold in the Japanese market have mirrors with integrated turn signals.

No argument here.

That's a conversion done in the UK.....it costs almost £2k, but also includes LED amendments to the front and rear lights too (rear amber turn signal plus front "side" light).

:)
