Dear Community,

I have the following question: The Pony emblem on one of my wheel hubs came loose and I lost it. The emblem is made of thin sheet metal and is only glued on. I've already searched online for exactly this sheet metal emblem, but I only get stickers shown. My question is: What other possibilities or alternatives are there? Could I use a cap for my rims? I have the original 18-inch Ford Mustang rims from 2011. I just think it looks nicer with the emblems. Of course, it's not absolutely necessary, but it just looks better if I had these emblems.

Thank you all in advance.

Hello,

If You Wanted The Same Style Cap FORD has Discontinued That One. You Just Missed a Nice Used Set on Ebay. There was Also a Good Knock Off Generic Supplier I Have Used in The Past But He is Currently out of Stock. I Will Tell You That Most of The Generic Caps on Ebay are Junk Currently. They Show Up Not Looking Like Pics on Listing. I Had To Refuse 2 Sets. New Old Stock Ones Pop up Once inawhile as well!

If You Like I Can Keep an Eye Out For a Nice Used or Nos Cap or Set That Ships International. I Can Send a Link When I Find it. I'm on Ebay Everyday & Usually Catch Them Quickly When Listed

Now Your Cap Can Be Repaired. Using GOO Gone or Lighter Fluid on the Chrome Cap Will Remove All The Old Adhesive. Now The Insert is Not as Durable as The Cap So Very Gentle Cleaning on That Would Be Necessary or The Paint Will Come Off. Getting All The Adhesive off The Metal Insert Would Be a Real Booger So Basically if You Can Clean Well and Scuff Some of The Area Without Going All The Way To Outer Edge and Also Staying a Bit Away From Center Cutout and it Should Stay Put with Some Good Gorilla All Purpose Adhesive or the Like.

Oh And I Got To Thinking if one Came Off They are Probably All Coming Loose. You Can Test Using a Fingertip Making a Press at All Four Corners of Metal Emblem and See if it Moves or Rocks. This Means They are Coming Loose as Well! If You Want To Attempt Repair I Can Elaborate Further.

Looking At Your Cap Again Makes Me Think Somebody Glued Actual Cap To Wheel. The White Residue Seems Out of Place.Tire Store Maybe Pulling a Fast One. If Tabs are Busted You Will Need a New Cap. I Would Remove & Inspect All Caps. They are Usually Pretty Snug and They are Best Removed By Pusing From Behind. a Thin & Narrow Paint Scraper Might Work To Pull From Front But Risks Scratching Wheel. Just an FYI!

Hello, thanks for your quick reply. Unfortunately, I've already lost one emblem, so I only have three left. I've removed the others now too, and it was just as you said: The others were already loose, which is why I've removed them as well

Would the caps fit on my rims? The emblems I have are made of thin sheet metal.

If You Get a Used Set They Would Need To Be Checked as Well if They Need Regluing. Last NOS Ones I Saw on Ebay Were $150.00 a Set. They Do Pop Up Once inawhile But Expect To Pay That. The Good Generics May Be Gone as The Latest Issue With Them Was They Were Stamped Off Center and The Metal Insert Ended Up Pooched Up With a Large Gap Around Chrome Pony. Quality Control on Made in China Stuff is Very Hit & Miss! You Could Clean all the Caps and Run All Chrome in The Meantime if The Tabs are Ok. I Actually See People on Ebay Selling Them That Way Like They Came Like That. They Just Don't Know. Anyhoo Those Used Ones I Linked To are a Fair Price and I Would Use Before The Bad Generics But That is My Opinion.

That is Exactly What You Have If You Removed The Chrome Cap. They are Snap Fit! The Metal Part is Not Sold Separate! Must Be Purchased as Cap Assembly.

Thanks for all the info, that helped me. The diameter of the emblem is 56 mm. I'll search the internet thoroughly.
A silly question from me, sorry, but is there perhaps another way to glue on a silicone emblem or something similar?

It is Really Up To How Much Effort & Time You Want to Put into it. The Short Answer on Reusing Original Caps Would Be Making a Level Surface By Grinding off Chrome Pony or Filling Inside of Cap with Enough Epoxy To Level and Install a Sticker. The Time & Money Involved as You Exparament Adds Up Kinda Quick. It's Really All About How Nice You Want the Caps. It's Really a Craft Project & Let Your Imagination Be Your Guide!

You Have Not Really Said What Look You are After. Do You Want Something That Looks Like What You Had or Just Something That Does Not Look Worn Out??? How Much Money Do Budget for Caps? Lmk and I Can Advise a Bit Better!

Also I Sent an Email To The Supplier I Got The GOOD Generic Caps From Earlier & WIll See if They Will Be Listing Anymore.

I Found One Used Closer To Your Area!

Thanks, Kevin, for your effort. I know the link from the dealer; I had already discovered it and wanted to call and ask on Monday. It should definitely be the original emblem, just like it was before. It doesn't have to be brand new; it can be used. If I don't find one for now, it's not a big deal either. Then I would just leave the rims as they are, without an emblem.

Your Welcome!

Just Providing Options So you Can Make an Informed Decision. A Pic of The Back of Emblem Showing a Triangle Vs The Malformed Pony Would Show it's an Original As I Showed in Counterfeit Thread! The Last Batch of Generics I Found After Getting Two Dud Orders Were Not Bad at All. The Others Were Junk. As I Stated Though With The Generics You get Bait & Switch Where Picture Does Not Match Product Shipped or Pic is So Low on Resolution on Used You Can Not See Damage!
