Weird Situation with 2014 GT. Any Ideas?

Hi all,

(First thread, sorry in advance, it's a bit long...)

Ever since I got my 2014 GT 6M a month ago, it felt "not quite right." I had this weird vibration through my shifter that caused the car to feel like it was fighting itself, like two surfaces not mating exactly right. It also had the drivetrain clunking when depressing and releasing the clutch and what I thought was the infamous misfire where it would stumble during acceleration.

Reading about all of the problems these cars have had, I just chalked them all up to it being a Mustang, and didn't think they were anything that would hurt the car. They didn't happen all the time, and it still seemed to be pretty fast. I was disappointed though, because it didn't feel like a new car.

Last night, I was driving home beside my wife's car, messing with her, I got a little "spirited" with the gas (Within the confines of the law, nothing too extreme. Maybe a tire accidentally broke traction for a second or two.), and kept going. When I got to my street, I was driving along at a steady 20 (I don't mess around in residential areas), and heard a loud pop from under the car like when you drive over something and it flies up and hits your undercarriage. I was close to home, so I kept going and when I checked under the car, I couldn't see anything wrong.

This morning, I dove it to work, and here's the weird thing: now it drives smooth as silk, shifts great, the drivetrain clunk is nowehere near as bad, and it seems to not be fighting itself to go anymore. THIS is what a new Mustang should feel like.

I just hit 500 miles yesterday, but that may be completely coincidental.

I am wondering if maybe something was bound up causing the weird NVH, and it broke loose, so now everything is aligned? Anybody have any ideas? I did go back last night and look at the area of the road where the car was, and there was nothing there to run over or any parts that fell off of my car.

Any ideas anyone has would be appreciated.

On another thread some one else had something like this. Vibration in the shifter and it did not feel right. After a while of investigating under the car they found a couple of wire ties that where holding the exhaust hanger to close to the transmission. They cut the ties and the issue went away.

I think I have most of the details right but sounds like what you had.

I have a 2014 GT track that i have had for over two months and a 1000 miles and everyday I find something new that is a little off LOL.

But love the car.
