sync won't work at all
All of a sudden my sync won't work at all. The steering wheel button doesn't do anything. The button on the radio immediately switches back to the last audio source. Anyone else encounter this?

The radio runs fine. You can hear volume from other sources. Everything except sync. It's been intermittent since yesterday. No tone when you press the sync button on the wheel. Even the on radio button won't work. I'm so bummed.
Since you aren't able to access your SYNC menu, I suggest removing fuse #3 while the engine is turned off. Replace it after 3 minutes and start the car to test your SYNC buttons. You'll find more information about fuses on page 236 of the 3rd printing of the manual: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Fo.../12musog3e.pdf

It's pretty weird. It just happened 3 days in a row after the car had been sitting overnight. Turning it off and on had no effect. The last 2 days, 10 minted into my drive, it just started working. The only new thing I've done is switch from an iPhone to the Samsung galaxy note2. The weirdness started on my 2nd day of ownership.
I've not had Sync stop working altogether, but every now and then the system gets stuck on radio and insists there is no USB device. I have a thumb drive connected to USB2 and most of the time it works just fine with the system responding to voice commands. When it fails I turn off the radio and after restarting the car turn it on again. That usually resolves the problem.

I thought i would update everyone. This has been weird. I tried pulling the fuse and no luck. So i decided to try restoring the phone. No luck. I bought a new USB to mini USB cable. So far, problem solved. Lol, I hope that was the issue. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

I'm glad everything worked out!

As of a couple of days ago, I am having the same issue.
A couple of weeks ago I had an issue with Sync not recognizing that there was and Ipod plugged in. It was intermittent. Tried master reset and seemed to work. Then problem came back. When I manually try to get the USB selected, it tries initializing but then gives up and says the ipod is not supported.
Now Sync is off altogether, just as you. Sometimes it comes back when restarting the car, sometimes not.
I am really starting to dislike this system. When I go shopping for a car again in a year or so, if Sync is standard, you may see me give your cars a pass, Ford.

Unfortunately for me, I'm hooked on this car. If it continues to give me trouble, I'll have to change the radio out. Maybe the Kenwood system that seems so popular on this forum. I was a car stereo installer 20 years ago. Lol, hopefully I can remember something.

If you're losing the functionality of the SYNC controls, I suggest pulling fuse #3 while the vehicle is off. You'll find more information on page 236 of your owner's manual (3rd printing): http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Fo.../12musog3e.pdf Replace the fuse and test if SYNC is back to normal. If this does not resolve the concern, I recommend having your dealership look at your Mustang.

I have noticed one thing about mine that may be of help. If I turn the key quickly all the way to start, the radio comes on in radio mode, even if I had been listening to music on my thumb drive. If I turn more slowly through the first two positions and see the display showing USB, when I start the car all is well. Turning quickly to start doesn't cause Sync to fail altogether, but this info may help you understand what seems like erratic behavior.

Of course, as issues go, having to reselect usb is no big deal compared to things not working at all!
That's interesting... On mine it seems random when I start up whether or not it will continue off the USB (which I never remove) or be set to 'line in'. I will have to experiment on different speeds of key turning to see if that gets it more consistent on starting on USB like it should...

Unfortunately, there are no settings within the SYNC system that will allow you to select which source plays upon start up. Let me know if I can help with any other SYNC-related questions.

Did you delete the iPhone in your stored Bluetooth devices list? There is a setting for for default device and I am just guessing this could be a possibility. I would delete both and add them back and set the S4 as the default device. Worth a shot.

I deleted both and removed the fuse. I unplugged the USB cable and now it works. If I plug it back in starts being weird again. I'm going to the dealer tomorrow.
