I never said they couldn't. But, low oil will also destroy rod bearings. The entire situation has to looked at.

Correct. But it would have to be soooo low that it stopped picking oil up in the pickup tube and lost oil pressure

Now, my gut here is a failed #8 ring-land caused by a bad tune. But if it's truly a rod bearing, there may be a valid warranty claim.

True, but Ford has been extremely clear that altering tuning parameters of th ECU to increase performance can result in the loss of engine warranty.

That is what prompted my original post. When a guy takes the car into a dealership, after diagnostics, the tech will communicate his findings with FMC and they will decide whether or not to replace the parts. It is not up to the dealer to just rebuild a motor, FMC will make that call.

Just to update you guys on the situation as i've been through hell and back, and it was in fact worse than i thought.. there were 2 blown pistons... Not exactly sure what when wrong as of yet, but im going to have a new motor put in, and when the old one is taken out we'll open it up and see the damage. But the damage was bad, as i had to tow the car home, forget to mention that part lol. And in fact what i do believe the destroye engine was in fact because of a bad tune.. Sadly to say it was the Jon Lund 93 aggressive tune. I think too much advanced timing was to be the cause of all this. Sadly ford will not warranty this and has prematurely voided the warranty on my car for everything. Sadly a new motor is going to cost me alot, but i am having the new 5.0 Aluminator put in as it is almost indestructible, but sadly it is going to cost me alot. But i love this car too much just to give it up plus with all the mods i have in it. So just a warning to you guys out there, be careful what tune you put on your car even if you think its from a safe reputable tuner..

Sorry to hear that. Have you contacted Lund, and if so what was his response?

You definately have to let them ( Jon Lund ) know what happened to your engine and see what they can do about it. Maybe they can fix you up in some way or another. Please post some pics when you tear down that engine. Keep us posted, good luck with everything.
