Potential buyer... want opinions.
Well a while back I considered buying a 2011 5.0 but decided against it at the time. Well here I am and I still want one. I know the 11's had a few tranny issues and you hear of a few engine failures/noises but I figure this thread would just make it easier. Have any of you guys regretted buying your 5.0? What are some of the major things that happen to them? I really love these cars but I know that anything that I own will end up modded eventually and I don't want something like my Trans Am where once you get power and start hooking every single part of the drivetrain starts breaking. More than likely I'll never see any more than bolt ons since the car would be under warranty but I just thought I'd see what you guys thought about the car as far as reliablity goes. Right now I've got a 2010 Cobalt SS I'd be trading in for it. Thanks

No regrets here. These cars are great and those with issues are a minority. Some guys modded are pushing 600+hp out of stock internals and trans. Do your homework and get the one you want. You can pick up a used 11 GT premium for under $30k or take advantage of killer offers on new 12's. I think $3k rebates + $750 coupons are still available on 12's. Good luck!

like 90% of the tranny stuff was proven to be a fluid issue or driver error. From what I understand pretty much all of the failures that people were crying about were on modded cars with a tune.
I love mine and took it in to get two rattles fixed in 4400 miles.

With just over 12,000 miles in 14 months of ownership on my '11 GT/CS, I could not be happier. Just last night on the way to supper, I tested the manuals shifting at high rpm's. Works great. I have had nothing major go wrong.
