O2 sensor connector out of reach

Good afternoon, my driver side upstream o2 sensor went out the other day and when I attempted to replace it I realized the o2 sensor plug is on top of the trans. I can’t reach the connector and there’s no slack, I looked but didn’t see any bunched up wire to provide more slack. I ended up splicing it in but realized o2 sensors operate off resistance so splicing it in throws off the readings. The connector isn’t attached to anything it’s just dangling above the trans and I don’t want to yank on it too hard, any suggestions are appreciated
