noise after car is turned off

noise after car is turned off

its making a knocking sound after I get back from driving.. I've heard other cars do it and I don't think it's mechanical.. maybe from the heat.. sounds like it's coming from the center of the car.. car drives fine.. maybe it's always done it and I've never noticed it.. dunno

I believe the noise you're hearing is from the metal parts contracting as they cool off.
