Intermittent Vibration NOISE APP LINK!

Hello everyone! Yesterday I picked up a 2014 GT with Track Pack, and was driving it home on the long 7 hour trip from Georgia. I noticed that when I got to about 75 mph or so, I would get an intermittent vibration. Not in the steering wheel, but I could feel it in the seat. It would vibrate for about a second, then go away for about a second, then vibrate, then go away, and so on. It wasn't severe, but it was noticeable. Anyone have any similar experiences over the years that might know what it is?

Thanks KC. The tires are only 2 years old. Tread seems good, but my initial thought was going to the local tire place and see if they need to be balanced. In the past, when that was an issue, I always felt it in the steering wheel. Nonetheless, I do plan on having that checked.

https://www.google.com/search?client...+vibration+app

Had a Member awhile back Who Went Nuts Looking For Similar issue. Went to a Shop Which had a Vibration App! Found Issue after other shops could not. Never got the Name of The App But Check out the search Results!

How does the NVH app work?
The NVH app measures the vibrations on your vehicle and compares them to the rotational speeds of these parts. If there is a match, the NVH app will show you red glowing parts on the Vehicle View screen representing the vibration detected on the screen.

Also read that an out of balance drive shaft can cause issues like this? If this was the case, would the vibration be intermittent or constant?

Depends on Exactly What is Causing it. If Say a Rubber Insulator is Getting Hot and Deflecting it Could Be Intermittent. Just The First thought I Had. If You Go With an App Based test, The Key Will Be Duplicating Concern At Will if You Are Depending on a Shop with The App or Other Means To Catch. With that Long Drive Something Surely Got Warmed Up that May Not in a Quick Jaunt Down The Freeway. So Keep in Mind Exactly Under What Circumstances The Vibration Occurs! Can it be Duplicated in a Short Period of Time or is a Long Drive Needed.

Just Food for Thought! When Parts Change Temperatures Things Expand & Contract. That is Where it Can get Tricky. A Loaded or Unloaded Car Can Change Things as Well. It May get Better or Worse Depending on 1 Person or 2 People and a Trunk Full O Stuff!

Gotcha, good to know. I'm never on the highway with my cars, so I may not be able to replicate it. I'll keep all these things in mind. Thank you for the wealth of information.

Well, found out what it was. All four wheels were out of round. The worse part about it? The tire guy that was showing me what they looked like when they turned, somehow got his finger stuck between the wheel spoke and the caliper and it got cut off (the tip right below the fingernail).... I feel so bad, even though I know it's not my fault, I just feel terrible.

Well, on The Bright Side it was Not a Complete Loss of The Finger. What Do You Say When Something Like This Happens. So Sorry For The Ordeal on Yours and Your Techs Behalf!
