Angry Hood scoop coming loose

My add-on hood scoop is coming unstuck at three of the four corners. Still stuck front and rear and most of the length of the sides, but there's an obvious problem that's gonna need correcting. I'm toying with the idea of the $800 new hood solution... but that's a big trigger that the missus isn't going to understand.

I'm not concerned with getting it off myself, but not really confident in my ability to get it back on straight... so should I just let the body shop do both?

I would've never put it on there to begin with, but I'm used to it now...

No offense but that's and easy fix with new 3M tape. Buying a new hood because of it is silly.

Stock Ford scoop has bolts also if my memory is correct. Easy fix.

Yes. I had the same problem. The tape gave out. New tape, tighten bolts, easy fix.

Of course it would be silly... but I've had my eye on one of the Cervini hoods for awhile now anyway.

Sounds to me like the bolts must not have been tightened down in the first place for the tape to come loose...don't over tighten though.

Can you post a pic of it loose?

Camera inop right now. The passenger side corner near the windshield is probably 1/4". Looksl like the sticky tape gave way in the middle. Tape on the hood, tape on the scoop. I'll look at the bolts.

I went out and pulled the insulation down far enough to see four studs coming through with no bolts... just yellowish plastic 'caps' covering the threads. Again... no bolts. And even if there were bolts, they're not anywhere near the corners and wouldn't pull them down anyway. I was mistaken my last post... the tape has let go of the scoop.

Second owner... so is there anyway to know if this was a factory or dealer installed item? I don't see that on the window sticker I printed out from the VIN when I got it. I have the side window louvers, pedestal spoiler, and the hood scoop... but no side scoops that I think would've come in a package. I'm going to give Ford a chance to look at it in case they want to put it right before I mess with it. Not sure what the warranty says about stuff like that, but I'm gonna find out.

Is the scoop open in the front, or does it have a block off plate (cosmetic scoop)? With no bolts and just two sided tape, your lucky it did not come off in the wind.

The threaded studs are there for a reason; bolts to hold down the scoop. Get the bolts at your local hardware store.

It's closed. Textured black plastic. From 75' away one of the guys at Ford said it was a Roush appearance kit... but the spoiler sure looks like the one Ford sells, as do the window louvers. They did look up the VIN and tell me it wasn't part of a factory option. Sooo... I'm going to stop by the dealer I bought it from (used) and see if they'll take care of it.
