Having to say "Bluetooth Audio" every time - Ford Sync

I'm assuming there is no way around this...? Having to do the voice command and saying bluetooth audio EVERY time I start the car is quite annoying...especially if I'm stopping at a gas station. I would feel like a fool if I had a date in the car or something
I also get a lot of glitches when saying bluetooth audio...it either says "there is no device, I will try to connect one" (which is BS, because the device IS connected) or it will say that it can't hear you and then start listing off all the things you can say.

If Sync is active, and you have a bluetooth device in the car and were playing audio through bluetooth in the past, it should default to bluetooth audio the next time!

Is Ford looking to fix this or update this?

And another thing, is there a way to stop the "911 Assist set to off" from displaying that and MUTING my music for 5 seconds EVERY time I start up the car with a bluetooth device connected? Do I just have to set up 911 assist to stop this?

Thanks guys!

Seems like lots of people have issues with SYNC. Don't have it in my car but have an aftermarket bluetooth system in my truck and I have to re-initialize it every time I turn the truck back on after stopping too.

You might see if your dealer has a SYNC specialist, mine does and they are always ready to help get those issues handled or at least explained.

I guess they did not improve this on the 2013's as my 2011 does this also but it is random.

I have the Sam issue and have not found anyway round it other then plugging in the phone, which is great on long trips... But let's be real, most trips are 10-30 minutes. Not worth having to data log each time. I just deal with it or now. My wife makes fun of me every time. Toyota does not do that. I hope they come up with a fix. Still waiting. Sucks.

Is this an issue only with the no NAV audio systems? I don't have this problem at all. Mine connects automatically and starts playing music right way, sometimes I have to set the source to Bluetooth Streaming but that's it. Perhaps you need to set Bluetooth to auto play ? Again not sure if this an option for no NAV systems.

what do you mean by set to auto play? On the device or on sync?

What is it switching to after you start the car again? Have you tired just pressing the Aux button? I mostly use an iPod or USB key to play music, but when I have used my iPhone to stream music over Bluetooth it always reconnected when I got back in the vehicle.

When you start your car, turn the key to the "On" position and let the gauges cycle first then start your car. The system should then recognize the bluetooth device and play it automatically if it was playing when you turned your car off. This works for me on my '12.

I don't use bluetooth audio, but this will happen once in a while with my hard drive connected on USB. Most times it reconnects, but once in a while it switches to Line In for no reason at start up. I just manually press the button and cycle back to usb and i'm good to go.

Good luck with Sync support as there is none or they blame the phone. 2013's haven't had an update in over a year and there is a text messaging bug that needs fixing. 2014's are said to have a newer version, but us 13 owners are still waiting.... and waiting...

SYNC seems to perform "OK" as a hands off phone system - with some strange "accessory functions" - but it isn't anything close to being "intuitive." I have yet to find a "complete compendium" of functions/operating instructions. The further you get from "routine phone functions," the more you need to find an "Indian guide" that has been down that trail before

I don't have nav and I have zero problems with sync. I know sync doesn't work well wiyh all devices as I had a hard time with it when I had mu Droid X but ever since I got the S3 I've had no problems. Sync isn't the best and Ford has many improvements to do.

I had that happen, and this "Master Reset" got it working again. However, you lose your phone data and connections when you do the "Master Reset."

I have non-Nav sync in my 2013 GT500 and in my 2010 Raptor and I have the same problem with Bluetooth audio not reconnecting when I restart the car.

Sync is so disappointing its almost as if the people at Microsoft designed it.

I have a 2014 without nav but with Sync. I only use my Android phone via Bluetooth for making and taking phone calls. It reconnects just fine. I use a USB thumb drive for music. If I turn the key quickly to start the engine my system drops back to FM radio. If I turn to position one or two and give it a couple of seconds, it recognizes the USB device with no problem. Voice commands work just fine except when I have the top down and am moving. Then the wind noise creates the problem. It's not a perfect system, but if you take the time to understand what it does under various circumstances you can get it to work very well for you. Its pronunciation when repeating back instructions is sometimes odd and amusing. If you have some folk music on your device and tell it to play genre folk, you'll get a chuckle out of its pronunciation.

What about the "911 assist off" thing that mutes my music for 5 seconds?

It is funny listening to it stumble on some words. You also have to speak to it the way a word is spelled sometimes. We have a town here called Leicester. It's pronounced Lester. Sync won't recognize it unless you call it Lie-ces-ter.
