Fuel Filling Issue Fuel Inlet Problem
Fuel Filling Issue Fuel Inlet Problem
Just wondering if anybody has had problems fueling their Mustang ?
The other day I went to the gas station and when I tried to pump gas I could only go a few seconds and the pump would stop. I kept trying to pump gas and I couldn't go more then a few tenths at a time. I got frustrated and tried another pump and the same thing happened so I gave up and figured I would try again later.
A few days later when I started my car there was a message on my speedometer saying " Check Fuel Fill Inlet " I looked at it and I don't see anyway to do anything with it. The owners manual just warns against using any kind of after market funnels and only to use the one that is included with the vehicle. I tried it and it goes in and out fine so I don't know what the issue is.
Anybody got any ideas ?

Same thing happened to me... Took it to my dealer and they said something along the lines of my exhaust burnt the wire for the fuel fill sensor so they reran it for me... It didn't make sense to me at the time but the problems gone now so...
Hmmmm this is the first I'm hearing of this problem. I'd take it to the dealer and have them fix it. I assume your car is still under warrenty so it shouldn't cost you anything. Good luck, I hope I don't run into this problem.

seems odd to me they would check the sending unit
i would def look at the evap system. which after the charcoal canister there isn't much left other than vent and solenoids. hope they figure it out. sucks it would happen to a new car. my 04 does that i assume its just the charcoal filter plugged bc i lived on gravel for 5 years but i just leave my car running when i fill up so that it doesn't shut off the pump.

The problem is that you are putting the pump nozzle to fare in. We use to own a gas station for a very long time. Allot of Jap cars have this issue. For Gas to flow in you have to let air out. When you put the pump nozzle all the way in the air can not escape fast enough. My girl friends infiniti FX has this issue as well. The engenious filler the Mustang has make s the issue worse.
Answer is Pull the nozzle out fare enough to let the air out and the fuel in.

Check Fuel Fill Inlet
This warning came on yesterday. I had just had my car serviced at the dealership. Last time I had it serviced (routine oil change), a few days later, the water pump busted and I had pink fluid all over my garage floor.
So now this warning and the car only has 42,800 miles on it. I am the original owner. Of course I got the extended warranty on it because all I have heard about Fords and I had only owned Toyotas prior to this. This is my baby and my dream car! It doesn't get driven much as it is babied and kept in the garage now. In six months, it has only gotten 2,000 miles on it.
I hope this is under warranty as I have an appointment next Tuesday. Last time they fixed my water pump, I had to pay the $100 deductible from my extended warranty only to get a phone call a week later stating they made a mistake that it was covered under the original warranty and they credited my account the $100.
Now, I have lost faith in what they say is covered and what isn't. Can anyone shed some light on this and is this a problem Ford has with the Fill Inlet in their cars? It looks like the Fusion has this problem too, from what I have read online.
My husband almost bought a 2015 Mustang. We had finally found a white one in another city. We would have two Mustangs right now if my water pump didn't break so prematurely. No way did we need to Fords after this happened, so he purchased a Toyota instead. I am seriously getting discouraged with these car problems.
Seriously, what's next? "Fix Or Repair Daily" I'm starting to understand this phrase :-(
Thank you in advance for any insight you may have on this issue!
