Engine Tick Fixed!!!
Dear fellow Stangers,
You might recognize me posting on several Engine noise threads in the past couple of years. The ticking has been hunting me like a bad dream ever since it started after the 2nd oil change, I always believed it was the oil that's directly related if not triggered the noise.
Since then, I have tried different brands and weights of oil trying to procure the 'right match' but only to receive temporal relief. The BR3Z-8620-DA (TSB 12-8-14) did nothing to the noise, I was completely at a loss.
As many of Stangers have stated, this noise has been an infamous Ford Engine issue for ages. And yet, Ford never announced nor released any sort of suitable solutions until this day. We, Stangers are left behind to suffer the total embarrassment toward our beloved cars and our pride.
It has been 5years since I got the car. Time sure does fly, and so did my powertrain. With month and a half in hand, I had to do something. I was always against taking apart a brand new (well, not anymore) normal(?) operating Engine.
On below link, you'll find a short video clip of my car making noise. It has gotten a lot worse over the years, the noise was not a light tick or bbq tick anymore - it had become a 'solid knock'.
The repairs were in this order:
Lifter replacement --> No.4 Cylinder failure --> Short Block.
I'm happy to report that the noise appears to be gone after a short block repair. So far I've done 2-days of test driving (got the car back today, closed the case) through the mountain canyons giving some hard go - 120mph at one point when the road was clear.

Thanks. Just hope the noise does not return. I wondered if mine was a defect to begin with. But then, why would so many of us have the same issue?
It was covered under warranty. The attachment is parts estimate not including the labor. It would have come out close to ten grand he said, hard to believe cost so much. With that kind of money, I'd rather be looking at a new car lol.
I'm thankful that the noise became worse, noticeable enough anybody can tell. Also a good service advisor. I asked, I only got a month and half. Is there anything we can do. Got lucky to have Ford's approval, so to speak.

Yep, I may have had the loudest tick among these model years. My other thoughts were that I didn't baby my car enough. But doing the Canyons isn't exactly a 'push to the limit' hardcore driving and mine isn't a garage queen. I plan to visit race track though, road course sessions of course.
