Electronic Power Steering Rack Recommendations

Hey all,

My EPSR died as I pulled into my driveway last night and need to repair/replace it. From what I have seen online it is not really something that I will be repairing so I started looking at replacement parts and holy crap are they expensive (for me).

I would like to know if anyone has strong opinions about buying used ones off ebay. I have had good luck with buying used equipment before (not just for cars) and since this part seems like it could last for the life of the car it appears to be a good candidate for getting used.

Thanks for all your thoughts.

2012 Ford Mustang V6 convertible coup 3.7 liter base trim. Everything stock. No mods of any kind.

Get a Reman and Don't get Somebody Else's Used Up Rack! Steering & Brakes are Areas You Don't Want to Cut Corners On! The Fact So Many are Backordered on Rock Auto is They Have a High Failure Rate! Start Fresh! Get One While You Can!

As an FYI The Reason You See The Wheel Size Choices Are Because The Larger Tire Cars Have a Shorter Lock To Lock. So A 17 Wheel Rack on a 19 Inch Wheel Car May Rub On The Inside!

That is My 2 Cents!

Ah ok I see. I might still be out of luck though because it seems that they dont have any 17" versions.

I Cross Referenced an Oem Steering Rack Part Number for 17" Wheels!

OEM / Interchange Numbers: BR3Z3504A, BR3Z3504DE, BR3Z3504GE, BR3Z3504KE, CR3Z3504AE, DR3Z3504AE

Here is Oem Listing For 17"

Oh wow thanks a lot! So for the future, the workflow is: find part number, convert it to OEM part number, then search for all equivalent parts via the rockauto search engine?

You Learn Quick! Sometimes You Have To Jump Around From Different Starts To Come Up With a Viable Number. Don't Always Trust The First Crossover You Find, Dig for a Few And Make Sure Everything Jives. Starting Out in The Giant Website and or FordParts.Com Websites. With Your Vin Can Help Narrow Down Search Out Of The Gate. Realize There are Gonna Be Some Items Out There That are Tied To Say Maybe an Earlier Part Number But Not Current Part Number. So Just Cross Check Yourself. If You Hit a Snag I'm Happy To Help. 30+ Years With Ford Parts I Can Usually Find Something! Ford Loves To Change Part Numbers All The Time So Sometimes You Can Find a Part Under an Older Number That Somebody Has.
