So BBP cars are supposed to have a special sport mode, right? My car doesn't respond to the double tap on the traction control button nor the 8 second press.

Am I doing something wrong or did I get The wrong computer?

With your foot on the brake pedal a quick double-tap of the TC button should engage sport mode...

 

Are you holding the brake pedal down while pushing the TC button?

 

You don't have to have a BBP to have sport mode.
My 2010 auto has it...

Your tune has special ESC tuning for all scenarios. which probably- tho there's no word on it... lets the car run a little looser due to it's wider tires. But with that, ESC does not improve a vehicle's cornering performance, it rather helps minimize the loss of control.

 

so what does this sports mode do?!?!!? Cause this is on the Performanace package aswell isn't it?

 

Sport mode is a more liberal tuning of the stability and traction control systems. It will allow for more wheel slip and more yaw before it kicks in.

 

Just like was said, it lets the car go farther before the ESC intervenes.

There are no electronic shocks or anything like that so it can't affect cornering ability, just how much and how soon the ESC works.

 

Hit the button once and the traction control turns off but the electronic stability control stays on.

Foot on brake and hit the button twice rapidly and sport mode lights up in the information range briefly. It allows the car to spin the tires more (not as much as TC off, but enough) and accepts a greater yaw rate. So you can drift without losing control. It does this by monitoring the vehicles yaw using new sensors, wheel spin, throttle position and or brake position and speed etc.

Foot on brake hold the tc button for 8 seconds or so and EVERYTHING turns off. Advancetrac, traction, and stability.

In my findings sport offers the best of both worlds...


Take what you want out of the ESC tuning on the bbp... I think it's a bit looser for brembos due to the tires... as i stated above.

I thought the simple one-push turned everything off.

No, the simple one-push turns off TC only. ESC is still on. Hold it down with brake on to turn everything off, or tap twice with brake on for sport mode.

 

That will completely negate traction control, yes. I'm not sure if ESC could somehow interpret massive shifts in weight balance (like launching) as a stability issue though, so it couldn't hurt to do the 8-second hold to turn everything off.

 

The other benefit of Sport Mode is a noticeable increase in steering tension on the '11 models. That's my favorite feature of the sport mode.

I'll give that a try, I wonder if it says anything different on the dash when you do that . . .

 

On the '11 it does indeed tell you which mode you're in (for a few seconds before returning to whatever info you had selected previously)...so I suspect that the '10 is the same way.

one tap: "traction control off"

double tap (with foot on brake): "sport mode"

hold for 6-8 seconds (with foot on brake): "advance track off"

hold for 14-19 seconds (with foot on brake): "amphibious vehicle mode"

 

AHA!!! And I thought I was the only one who new about "amphibious mode"..

 

Now remember guys, when tapping twice on TC button to activate "sports mode", you have to be going 100 MPH or more when applying brake. Just sayin'..........
