Audio Configuration Question Gen II S-197
@Slonison
Got Question Via Pm. Decided To Answer Via Thread!
Question Did Not Specify Year of Stang Took a Chance on 2013.
I do have a question for you.
Take a deep dive into this thread. I've read through it a few times.
What I'm trying to figure out is this...
Specifically related to the FDIM. My intuition tells me that It appears that there are different versions of firmware that gets loaded on these units depending on when you got it from Ford and, if you got it off eBay, what car it came out of.
For example:
My stock unit doesn't have any, what I will call "boot up" text.
When I turn my car on and start it, it immediately displays the radio station.
In that thread, you can read that upon updating, there are people showing that their FDIM boot up with the text Mustang on start. Then jump to the radio.
A buddy of mine bought an FDIM on line and his actually (after being installed in his mustang) actually boots up displaying "FORD TAURUS" despite being the only thing swapped amongst the radio components.
I guess what I'm asking is, do you happen to know, is this most likely an FDIM firmware thing?
Just an Fyi on FORD Radio Parts Sales.
Whenever A Customer Needed an Audio Part in The Dash We Had To Do an Online Form and The Order Was Sent To a FORD Authorized Radio Service. They Would Take The Information and Send Us a Configured Unit. Now My Info is Out of Date But I Would Guess it has Not Changed Too Much But at The Time We Could Not Do Much Radio Changes At The Dealer Level Back Then. It Appears That May Have Changed.
Another Little FYI When Sourcing a Used Radio Head Unit Make Sure You Are Getting The Correct Radio For Either Coupe or Vert as The Tone Curve is Different Due To Roof Accoustics or Lack Of!
Well Hopefully After Checking These Pdf's Out Your Question is Answered!
Oh and Back in The Day I Had a Great Radio Guy To Ask Questions. He Has Moved on or Retired Cause I Can Not get ahold of Him Anymore!
These Guys Service Ford Dealers and Could Be Contacted For Answers if Further Research is Required. It's Where My Contact Worked! They Know Their Stuff But I Don't have The Go To Guy Anymore So May Have To Persist! I Used The NY Location.
