Angry 2013 Premium Rim Defect

I bought my 2013 in December last year after I sold my 2012 V6. I went all out this time. I got the comfort package, premium rims, and stripe. The rims I got are the black and silver 19" ones like on the new Taurus SHO. There is a thick clearcoat over the entire rim and it started peeling in two spots on the driver rear rim only. I took it into my dealership got them to take pictures and send in and waited two weeks to finally hear back from Ford and they said it was a foreign cleaning compound or some **** and that they weren't going to cover it. So now I have to pay to fix the rim or get a new one. Pissed as hell that a car that was less than two months old has a factory defect and now Ford is weaseling out of it. I baby this car, hand wash it, and do not ever use automatic car washes. I am not paying 40k for this bull****. I'm not sure what else I can do though.

Yet my friend has nitros on his 11 GT and they covered to repair his transmission under warranty. How messed up is that? 1 rim vs rebuilding a transmission.

Send a PM to the user name Deysha.

Keep fighting, they'll likely cave. Go to different dealers if you have to, How do they explain that a foreign cleaning agent affected only one out of four rims?

The squeaky wheel gets the grease...they're just trying to see if you'll lay down and take it. Tell them to show you proof that it was a compound or cleaner that you used. Often times though, it's not ford saying no, it's the dealer, and ford just backs up the dealer because they are fords eyes and ears.

Take it to another dealer.

I met with some of the guys in our local club for dinner and to go cruise around and one of the guys actually works at a factory that makes rims and he says they have to cover it and that they take rim defects back in at 40-50k miles even because if its a defect then its a defect and they fix it.
