That is great. Your screen came in fast. Mine was ordered on Jan, 15th and just came in today. I have an appointment on the 28th to get it installed.

Spent an hour (little less) swapping out my radio plastic display. I'm proud of you guys who are fighting with Ford to get it fixed under warranty, but I just don't have the time or patients. Much easier for me was spending $22 bucks for a thicker nicer transparent smoked gray acrylic piece. I'm happy it's looks clean and normal again and I won't have to worry about a replacement Ford piece doing the same thing over again.

Yes I know, as this thread progressed it seems like more people were getting Ford to replace it. I had purchased the piece when it seemed like no one was getting any satisfaction from Ford on this.
Do you know if the piece they replaced yours with is the same as the original? I'd be worried it will happen again.

I don't think it's the same piece. He showed me the FORD document on that bulletin and the note stated 'replace with improved part'. So, i hope and presume it is. If it happens again, oh well.

Well, my screen is now fixed. I got it installed today after work. I think they may have also replaced the radio but I'm not sure. I didn't look at my paperwork until I had already left. Here is what some of the work order says.

Customer states radio display is delaminating. -SOP-
Approved by Ford Customer SAT.
Caused by flaw in material
Corrected by (A07) (D4) Audio Unit Part number- Acquire and order.
Corrected by Audio Unit- replace.
Inspect, verified concern, removed and replaced radio unit as needed. retest.

I'm not sure that replacing the radio was necessary if that is what they did since the screen that was part of the front panel seemed to be the problem and not the screen that was actually attached to the radio itself. I had never asked that the radio be replaced but maybe that is part of the SSM procedure. There is now a blue line in the radio display when the radio is on that separates the outside temperature from the channel info that I don't recall being there before so maybe they did in fact also replace the radio.

There doesn't seem to be any mention of the front panel being replaced on the work order unless either the (A07) or (D4) refer to the panel.

I'm glad it's fixed and again want to thank Deysha and whoever else at Ford that helped make this happen.

Hey GT50GO,
Did you get your replacement piece from that source I gave you? If so, did you order the same dimensions that I gave you? I assume the thicker panel did not cause any installation problems. Was the factory screen held into place with anything other than the black adhesive that is supposedly used? Can you give a little detail on the replacement procedure you did? I'm just curious in case my replacement screen decides to do the same thing and to help the ones who don't get it replaced under warranty. Thanks.

Yes I did and thanks for the info on the piece.
I got the exact item from www.tapplastics.com
"Transparent Acrylic Sheets (Cut-to-Size) - Transparent Solar Grey 1/8" Thick, 2" Wide, 7-5/16" Long"
The factory screen was only held in place by some RTV silicon type substance, and there was no issue with the thicker material.
Very easy install, you just need a 7mm socket. Here's a video that shows you how to remove the front panel.

Once you have it off it's obvious from there. I added a little more RTV silicone and let it sit for about an hour then put everything back together.

That's great. I'm glad the info was helpful to you. I still have my piece sitting on the shelf in case I need it. I left the protective paper on it so I haven't looked at it with it off.

I watched that video and it doesn't look like that replacement cover they used had a tinted screen in it. Thanks for the info.

Now when I turn on my car, my radio screen says "Mustang" for a few seconds (which I'm pretty sure it never did but I could be wrong) and then the LCD shows as before but I have 2 new lines dividing up the areas. Looks pretty nice. Add of course the screen is clean and nice.

I just went outside and turned on my radio and mine also says "Mustang" for a few seconds which it never did before and which I didn't notice when I first started the car at the dealership after the repair. My radio only has one blue line on the right side of the screen. I guess since I don't have the compass in my radio display, I don't get the second line on the left side.

You’re very welcome, 70monte! Glad to learn this is taken care of. Also remember, the compass display comes on the “Premium Array” on the V6 and GT (it is standard on the GT500).

Here’s how to tell the difference:

• V6 – On window label “Equipment Group” 100A does not have the compass display. If the vehicle does NOT have SYNC, it will not have the compass display.
• GT – On window label “Equipment Group” 300A does not have the compass display. If the vehicle does NOT have SYNC, it will not have the compass display.

I hope this helps.

Deysha,
Thanks for the info about the compass. I actually started a post on one of the forums asking about the compass. I'm glad you clarified which cars have it. Thanks again.

Oh man, my screen just started doing this. I figured it was frost from the cold we have been having but it doesn't seem that way. Off to fight with the dealer about ANOTHER warranty issue.

Did they just replace the screen or did they also replace your Radio? What does your work order say?

"Replace parts ordered FDIM and do PMI"

no idea what exactly was replaced but the new facing had a peal away decal on it, like brand new. My bluetooth and phone were still in sync so it's highly unlikely they replaced the entire radio unit.

You’re very welcome, 70monte. I posted this before on a different thread you and I were conversing on about the compass.
