hi, i just got my 2013 mustang v6 and its a great car. i hear a very high pitched noise in the interior when its in accesery mode or when the engines running and its coming from the dash area. i can even hear it when the radios on. its not the machanics of the car because i can hear it when i put the car in accessory mode so it must be coming from the computers. does any one else have this in there 2013 mustang and any ideas if its fixable.

 

Rick, when you say accessory mode is that A/C, heater, vents, etc. If so it may be a leak in one on the vacuum lines controlling the air diverter thingy. Just a big guess here. Good luck. It sux to have a new car with little things like this. Our '13 has two little crap problems that have to be fixed.

 

Have you tested to see if the noise is also outside the car, loudest by the headlights?

Id guess its the HID Ballasts

 

I'm sure it's fixable; identifying it is going to be the difficult part. You might be best served taking it to the dealership and having the service manager or tech listen to it. It might be a simple fix for them once they've heard it.

 

Take it to the dealer, they'll fix it for free.

 

Hi rickdard123, did you get an answer to your problem? I am having the same issue. I have a 2012 mustang and when the car is in accessory mode or running it squeals really loud. It sounds pcm related. I went as far as pulling out the radio and the entire center console and it still squeals. However it doesnt do it when it is in the on position. Just when it is in the accessory position or the car is running. Its driving me nuts. (No pun intended) please help!!! Maybe you figured something out I couldnt. Oh and my warranty just ended 1000 miles ago.

 

May not be what you are hearing... But the HID Headlamps will make a loud noise when on... Would think the engine noise should be more than enough to cover it... But turn them off to eliminate them...
