2011/12 MT82 Cold Shift TSB

Trouble with that early morning shifting with your new 6sp?

Figure maybe you're just out of practice?

Fear not my fellow Gear Bangers:

Its the MotorCraft Synthetic Trans Fluid!! It needs Dual-Clutch Fluid.

Here's the TSB:

That TSB has been out since March18 th and doesn't do much to improve the notchy shifting. It is just a bandaid fix. FWIW this thinner oil is suppose make shifting smoother, but at the same time, it let's you hear all the mechanical sounds going on inside the tranny and some have reported hearing a whine after the fluid swap. I ain't changing my fluid for now.

But fixed the notchy shifting myself. 1st mod, was a Tri-Axe. :-)

Every manual car that sits out in the cold will exibit this without fail. Its the fluid that hasnt gotten up to temp and is a little like molasses. If you want your trans to be smooth when cold, then let them do the TSB. But I'd rather take it slow when its cold and let the trans and fluid get to normal operating temp then drop the weight of the oil to put a bandaid on it. Its normal. My 04gt, 04 cobra, 07 C6, 09GT500 and now the 11 GT have all done this. Its NORMAL!!!!!!!!! Enough people ***** about it and obviously Ford will put out something on it.

I know what you are talking about wrt the feeling,
but do you honestly think that if Ford is releasing a TSB for something (especially to spend $$$ to change something) that it isn't for legit reasons??

Trust me on this one, if it was just a normal thing...they wouldn't have looked into it and decided to spend money to 'fix' a normal situation.
