2010 fire hazard - Ford won't warranty
Seems to me that would be really easy to fab something up w/ a scrap piece of steel, paint, and be done w/ it. Not worth the hassle of dealing w/ FoMoCo and a dealership to me.
FYI:
Here is a picture from a 2011 (not the one I saw in person, but another post from the other day on here). Notice the bracket missing but with the barbed fitting on the two lines..Oh well, guess either they mean to do it, or someone forgot a whole lot of them! User=brycerichert

Regardless, I'll get me a bracket one way or another for nothing less than piece of mind. Looks obvious to me it was designed in for that reason.....
100% agree with finding one. Like we both said before, its their for a reason, and at some point they had a bracket installed on the model. I contacted FORD, waiting for official response from them.
On the GT, it's rather protected with the dual exhaust. Have you seen it on a single exhaust vehicle? It sticks out all alone, begging to get nailed by road debris, etc. It's clearly visible thru the wheel well on mine. Mine already is getting a bit wobbly, perhaps from the winter snow/ice accumulation off the rear wheel over the winter?!? I myself consider it a fire hazard, should the line(s) give way. Wonder if others had the same situation on their vehicle, if they would want their wife/kid/whomever driving the car knowing the potential for line failure exists on their vehicle.

It appears to me that they have come to the conclusion that the important thing is to keep the lines separated. The bracket to the shield has been eliminated as being superfluous. The barbed fitting is a vestigial remainder from the original sturdier design. A minimal cost savings, but I personally don't see any fire hazard.

Received a call out of the blue from my dealer. Says the regional rep approved the warranty, and part is on order. Should come in after Tuesday of next week to get it put on. I never spoke with the rep, nor even knew this was under discussion with my dealership.
Not sure which avenue got their attention finally, but I'm rather confident that the Illinois State's Attorney letter probably helped. Then again, the NHTSA filing may have, as well. Either way, I'm finally getting my bracket!
All the dealership would add is "some have the bracket; some don't".
BTW - they're stating they're replacing the whole cover, not just adding the bracket.

OFFICIAL RESPONSE FROM FORD.
"Thank you for your patience while I further investigated your inquiry. The dealer is correct, the early (built prior to December 2009) had an additional bracket that extended from the carbon canister (fuel vapor storage canister) that was used as a locator for the fuel vapor lines.
The design of the fuel vapor canister housing was changed and the bracket was deleted. The retainer clip that holds the 2 vapor lines together remained the same, so the "Christmas Tree" attachment remained.
I have been informed that your vehicle is built correctly and should not have the bracket. The bracket was unnecessary with the new canister design. In fact, the service canister assembly was superseded to the new design without the bracket.
I hope this information clarifies the issue.
