111k maintenance / misfire on cylinder 1 etc.

Got a code (not sure of number!?), while getting onto the highway today. Engine
light blinking for a few minutes, then ... it was gone.

But, the local auto parts place tool said misfire on cylinder 1 ...

Most likely, spark plugs ... but that is the stores computer diagnosis.

Is there a go-to brand? They (plugs) seem to be "under" something horrible. So, I'd think
at this moment (pre-net-surf, pre you-tube education), it would be wise to change
the plugs with something very good, and also perhaps
the wires and coils as well?

Again, is there a go-to -- or a stay away from
experience anyone can advise?

Its not a race car, so factory quality parts are plenty good.

Thanks!

Nothing wrong with OEM Motorcraft then. Make sure you don't overtighten - remember it's an aluminum block. The factory torque setting for them is in in/lbs not ft/lbs.

Plugs would be the best thing to try. #1 misfire was probably P0301.

Thanks!

It has not happened again, but will get some plugs, and torque wrench (can't find the little one....)
and change some plugs.

The upper intake comes off, and there is a seal ... I should probably have one of those on hand,
just in case?

Which engine do you have? No need to take any part of the intake off on a 5.0 to do plugs.

This is for the 3.7.

From videos ... the upper intake comes off pretty easily to provide access to the pass/side three
plugs/coils.

For the Performance Package, the car also has ...
engine cover BR3Z-6N041-C
strut tower brace AR3Z 16A200-A

Should get to this this week! (depending on parts arrival).

Fuel injectors! Anyone have a how-to for the 3.7L? Net-surf has not been very helpful. I could
swap these out too.

Thanks!
