There are plenty of tint/alarm places that are super cheap but you get what you pay for. Those places use cheap film and don't respect your car. My old car used one of those places and they damaged so many things.

If you want to go cheap, it's your call. And it might get done decently. But for the real deal its gonna cost.

I paid $300 for mine. SunTek Carbon all aroind and Llumar Air 80 on the windshield. All hand cut. I always thought the machine cutting is the way to go but that's what big shops use since they have crappy installers. Someone that is a pro can get a closer and better cut than the machines can. My guy used a fresh blade for every single cut. The interior was cared for and he didn't use any short cut chemicals that ruined things.

As far as the windows go they won't be a problem if its done right. The guy I used locked them somehow so they were up when the door was opened. If the shop won't do it or are worried about it then they don't know what they're doing. But then again this guy normally does ferrari's and rolls.

That being said don't expect a flawless job. It's near impossible for anyone to get a dust free install done.

I put 3m Crystalline on mine - 40% on doors, quarter windows, and rear, and 70% on the windshield. All-in $575 (tax included). Yeah, I paid more, but the guy is top-notch, guarantees everything, does the local Ferarri's, Lambo's, Bentley's, etc. He's worth every penny. What's another $100 against a $40k car...2 tanks of gas? Not even....

Something to consider - the % you pick really only talks to the VISIBLE light transmission. Most tint blocks 99% of UV rays now, too. The key statistic is INFRARED (IR) the tint passes. Here in Florida where it's hotter than Hell, I wanted my car to stay as cool as possible. I paid extra for the 3M Crystalline because it's generally considered the best at rejecting IR heat (the 40% on my doors, rear 1/4's, and rear window rejects 57% total Solar energy, the 70% on my windshield rejects 50%). This tint really keeps the interior of my car cool. Again, I think it's money well spent. Hand-cut, one piece, not a single mark, bubble, warp, ripple, etc.....my guy is an artist.

Problem with warranty is that so many shops that do this stuff won't be in business anymore by the time you need to use the warranty.

I paid 175. got a lifetime warranty on it. No way you should be paying anywhere near 300!

The tint isn't what cost so much. It's the quality of the install. Some doctors charge more money too. But the cheaper ones sometimes cut off the wrong leg.

I've had tint installed "cheaply". One time it was decent. Never bubbled, but he nicked my rubber trim and the back window was two pieces with a micro gap inbetween. The other times have needed to be redone multiple times. All from different places.

The one experience I have with a high end tinter has been outstanding. It cost more yes. But there was zero damage done and the install is perfect.

A good buddy of mine has a side window tinting business and depending how many windows one wants tinted really determines the price. Typically, a tinted mustang should run between 180 to 200 max. That would include side windows, two small louver windows and the rear window. Now a classic mustang will run around 280 because the glass is typically older and the windows are far more time consuming than a newer mustang.
