Track Apps Migration between 11-12 vs 2013 Mustang GT

One question comes to mind --

Will Ford offer a Track App migration package to owner of 2011-12 Mustang GT owners? I think this would be a great idea and allows owners of 1-2 year old cars access the current technology.

I know in the scheme of things, this maybe a non-starter -- but then again I work for a manufacturer that does just that and it keeps a lot of people happy and coming back for more.

I'm trusting in the old slogan... "Ford has a better idea!"

Steve got jokes huh?

sure.... if you go out and pick up a new 5.0 crate motor and associated hardware and software.

I hope this didnt come off like I was asking for a free ride on Ford --

With automotive technology today, swapping the Track App gauge cluster which could support the information from the PCM and supplying updated programming to coincide is a fair proposition. Making it available through Ford Racing as a system upgrade is feasible. Profitable, hmm thats questionable.

It's probably all on the canbus. You need a 2013 steering wheel to control the track app screen. There is a good chance it's plug and play as long as the accelerometer is in the cluster.

I dont see this as being plug and play. You can bet ford has all types of new sensors for the track apps.

It's an accelerometer and OBDii data. An iPhone can do the same thing. No extra sensors needed.

That's what I'm betting on...
accel/g force and such can be handled by an accelerometer; similar to a mini Vbox.

Providing the cluster which in certain applications works like a gateway for canbus data requires no additional wiring (maybe working with unused PIDs) and the activators (multifunction buttons on the steering wheel) -- plus new encoding and programming of the PCM would be a likely upgrade --

quick and unobtrusive...

hmmm.... lot of people want a performance car -- but seems like there is not a general need for a simplified data logging system that is integrated into the car. maybe im a "lone wolf" on this one, but don't see how enthusiast can not want more information regarding acceleration, g force, trap speed and the like. my view is not a street racer mentality (even though I miss Wed night @ Irwindale in the '70's) ... but you can't manage what you can't measure.

cars have evolved quite a bit, now there are sensors which work with our current air bag/traction/stability control systems -- g force, pitch and yaw and roll over. working a hi-speed can-bus network gives us more capabilities, rather than letting the aftermarket capitalize on the opportunity, I would hope that the IVT guys @ Ford would offer a ground breaker before the On Board System hackers do ..

I for one would like to see more integrated tools on our cars.. even if its out of pocket. So many mods are done, so many dyno numbers are generated -- but having a real-time onboard system -- you can't beat that for testing your current mod(s) for actual results.

Just get an iPhone, a pro clip mount, and download Zilla and dynolicious. Now you've got everything track apps has. You can also download rev and get the obd wifi dongle for data logging.

Does anyone have the part number for the 2013 Track App cluster? Depending on the price I'd be willing to order one to start messing around with the retrofit idea..

got a RAZR MAXX -- MOTODock mount and downloaded the TorquePro application. Snagged a obd2 adapter off of ebay and now I'm somewhat satisfied. it would still be great to have this as an onboard tool.

one plus is that the Torque application continually adds more features every time they upgrade. Best $5.00 I've spent in a long time.

I just added a Gopoint bluetooth OBD-II to my install on my 2011. I don't see how I got along without it. DashCommand has everything and more.
