Sync Text Messaging Now Works With HTC Thunderbolt
Sync Text Messaging Now Works With HTC Thunderbolt
Hey all. If you use an HTC Thunderbolt you can get your phone text messaging to work on your Sync system. You have to root your phone and install a ROM. It's called ThunderShed and is the Thunderbolt version of CyanogenMod7. I asked the developer to include the messaging access profile (MAP) in the bluetooth stack a few weeks ago and he did!
I have a 2012 GT with the Sync touchscreen system (SyncVersionGen1-V4.0.2). I tested it this morning and it works without a hitch. It reads incoming texts and it allows you to reply with one of 15 canned responses handsfree. The only annoying thing is that when you send a text from your car it includes "Sent from my Ford" with every text.
So, if you already root and ROM your Thunderbolt you know the drill.
Please be sure to donate a couple of bucks to the guy for his efforts. Not only did he bring CM7 to the Thunderbolt, but he also hooked up Ford drivers.

Dang it! I just got all excited reading the name of the topic until you said you have to root. I'm on my 5th TB in 6 months, so there's no way I'm messing with it since I seem to have no luck with them. Congrats to you though for getting it to work.
Sorry, stangfoeva.
Not that I know of. You have to hang out in the CM7 forums and hope to find a developer that will respond. If I'm not mistaken there may be a list of developers that says for what platforms they make CM7. I'll check, if I can, to let you know where to start.
Here's where you can start to look for a developer...

Good luck.
