Shifter knob

Can anyone recommend a ball shifter knob that goes right on the stock 2012 shifter, that isn’t too outrageous in price? Looking for either black or chrome.

What do you consider outrageous?

This place, http://www.epcoshiftknobs.com/ has the least expensive knobs but they don't sell the boot adapter you need.

You can get a Boss black knob setup for about $75, a Hurst knob for about $50, then there is Grabber Pony, they sell the knob and adapter, or you can go to here, http://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-m...ift-knobs.html

Lots of choices out there.

Grabber Pony isn't the cheapest but since you can customize them, they are the coolest, IMHO.

I picked up my black roush knob and shift boot from Stage3 for $75.

Watch out just buying a knob, sometimes it may not fit right with your shift boot or require a retainer with it.

I love my grabber pony knob!

Looks awesome and feels great in the hands.

This is the 2nd time I've seen this listed. Might be able to scoop it up cheap if no one else bids.

is it possible to not use the new shift boot? would rather just a screw off screw on install as opposed to popping off the panels lol lazy

Depends which boot you already have. I had the 400a which came with the cheap plastic shift knob so I needed to use the roush boot. It's really not hard to change it. Just pop up the center counsel from the cup holders. The boot is held in by plastic clips, but take your time because I didn't and snapped 2 clips off. You can probably see it in those pics.

Yeah, I was hoping for something to just replace the current knob without having to lift up the console or replace the boot ( I have the cheaper standard plastic knob)…..I am paranoid that it would never go back together as good as from the factory or I would snap off something that would then need to be replaced….

I just talked with Nancy at EPCO. They have the two adapters to replace the stock leather knob now, large base and also the small base for others. Priced at $16.95 it is a deal. They both appear to be brushed and are threaded like others on the market. They are not on the web site as of today but they are scheduled for an update.

This is what I am ordering with the wide based adapter....

So there's different boots on different cars?! I have a GTCS so I assume the cheaper boot.

Am I the only one who thinks the factory black/gray knob is nice?! Lol

AzPete Jan 31, 2012 05:34 PM

Some have an aluminum knob with a different boot. Not so much cheap...but different.

The knob you have is used in several cars with a different shift pattern.......I have looked at many and finally settled on this one with my military background reflected in it. Plus, no one will find reverse now for sure...lol.

I would think an aluminum knob would get hot like a mutha f.
