Question Removing rear deck speakers

Hi, I have a 2013 v6 base and I would like to replace the rear speakers. I did some search online but couldn't find any guide on how to remove the rear deck panel to swap the speakers.

Is anyone familiar with how to remove the rear speakers? Greatly appreciate your help. Thank you.

Aren't they mounted from inside the trunk? A little nut driver action and they should drop right out

Nope they come out of top. we need to remove the top fabric/cloth that covers the speakers.

Remove the side panels enough to easily access the pins holding in the shelf, then remove those pins and pull out the shelf. It takes a little work to get it out since there's not a ton of room. You'll need to drop the rear seats down as well.

Thank you Automatic 5.0 that video explains everything in detail. I am going to install 4 Pioneer TS-A6885R and replace the head unit with Maestro MUS01 with RR and Kenwood DDX5901HD.

Definitely replace the head unit. The speakers will barely make a difference but that stock head unit is low in power and fidelity. I will get around to replacing my stereo and speakers eventually. The only thing that has kept me from doing it already is the AC controls, buying the kit to replace the AC seems like such a waste.

True but I think the MUS01 kit allows you to configure some hard buttons on top of the head unit. I will be programming them for fan control and AC toggle.

I've done the rears without removing any interior panels and with out destroying the rear deck cover. The cover is held in place with 2 plastic push pins on each side right in front of where the seat belt is attached.

I had to remove door sills, side panels and then I had access to remove the deck. I wonder how you were able to accomplish this without removing anything.

You can do it, but there's a lot of bending going on, and I personally don't care to risk breaking any of the interior panels to do it. The side panels aren't THAT hard to take off anyways, and they give you much more room to take out the pins holding the shelf in place (not to mention making it easier to remove the shelf).

I removed the side panels but I had to remove the door sills too and both of them broke, anyways I have ordered OEM replacement for door sills.

OEM speakers are out now, waiting for the new ones, cant wait to install them.

The sills do not need to come out.
