So I noticed this recently and never noticed it before.....
If I push up and feel the click on the dimmer switch, obviously both lights go on. If I keep the dimmer switch on high but below the click they are off. However, when hitting the button for each switch they will not go on. The only way to be able to use the buttons on the ceiling is to turn them on with the dimmer and then turn them off with the map light buttons. It's almost as If the dimmer is a master switch so to speak.

I have a 2012, was this changed from the 11s? My buddy's 11 both the switch and buttons work independently. I do have led bulbs in both of them, maybe that's why?

Not a huge concern just annoying when I reach up and they don't work and curious about it. Maybe someone can test their 12. Thanks !

Check your trunk light. If it's out, then you have a blown fuse.
I could not turn on my map lights either by pushing the buttons. They would come on with the dimmer switch and when I opened the door, but nadda on the buttons. One day I was putting something in my trunk and noticed the trunk light was out too. It ended up being a blown fuse. The fuse was located at the fuse panel in the passenger side floor board. Once I replaced the fuse, my buttons on my map lights worked again, and my trunk light was back on. Sorry, I can't remember what fuse it was though.

Wala! Smart man thanks!! I have my trunk light taken apart getting ready for the LED relocation. I tested it the other and nothing. I figured it was the wiring but I guess it's the fuse.

Thanks again.

Good deal! I was looking through my manual and I want to say it was fuse position # 25; Demand lighting (battery saver). It was a 10A fuse/amp rating. Try pulling that fuse and see.

Thanks again brother. I probably won't get around to it until Thursday. Any chance there's spare fuses in the panel? Lol

Back from the dead

Just been looking around online trying to figure out what's going on. I have a similar issue I had replaced my map lights and my trunk lights with LEDs and everything has been working just fine since 2016 I have a 2012 GT and up until about maybe 6 months ago I noticed the map lights weren't going on when I'd open the door didn't think anything much of it didn't really much care fast forward a couple months I noticed the trunk light was out as well So digging in I noticed that the fuse number 25 was blown every time I'd go to replace it it would blow the fuse I went through three fuses and realized okay something more is going on here. I have not taken it in but I have done everything I can think of without ripping the wiring out to figure out what may have happened or what may be the problem and to this day I still have no idea what the issue is. Map lights don't work trunk light does not work some other functions I believe don't work as well I think my rearview mirror no longer auto dims but that's hard to say now because I'm so used to it being the way it is at this point

Possible Dead Short in a Bulb. Replace With Stock Bulbs and See if Fuse Blows. If Not Problem is in Bulbs! If You Still Want Led Bulbs After that Make Sure & Get Name Brand Ones! Back in the Early 2000's We Would Often get Trucks in The Service Department With Electrical Issues Due To Led Bulbs. Tech Has Come A Long Way Since But Across the Board Quality On Parts Has Gone Down!
