My front speaker swap review
I'm no audiophile (I have moderate tinitis), but it sounds better to me. The base is certainly less muddy than before (and i thought the factory system sounded fine).
Head install took about 20 minutes. I did the necessary soldering on Friday, so it was a simple matter of removing the old head unit, plugging in the PAC adapter harness, and bolting the new unit in place. Finished up with Scosche panel, and put the console back together.
The head unit works great with no problems I could see/hear. It took longer to setup the head unit than it did to actually install it. The wife commented that it looked just as good as the factory setup.
I'll be working on a formal write-up for my car's web page over the next day or two. I have a few pictures - it's hard to stop every few minutes and take a picture of stuff, especially when you're the only one working on the system at hand.
the ultimate goal was simply to add the ability to use a thumb drive, and as expected, it worked out great.

Today I installed my Kappas 682.9cf using tousley speakers adapters and metra harness but... I did not change positive and negative wires from metra.. why? I follow the wires on te OEM speakers and at the tweeter you can see the polarity.. look the pictures attached and tell me If I and metra were wrong or the tweeters are wrong...
Sounds nice, but the test wil be tomorrow.. today I just listen like 30seconds of music.

Please analyze the pictures and tell me what you think..

I just change the front speakers..
No, what I want to show in the pictures is that following the car harness wires to the tweeter you can find what wire is positive and negative.. and I compare with the metra polarity and its the same..
Please analyze the pictures and tell me what you think..

Okay I can see now, yes those wires are reversed from the crutchfeild and other harnesses. If you use the top as the locking addition where the 2 harnesses meet and lock together you can see that yours has the black (-) wire on top. The non metra harness has the white(+) on top.
Hi guys and gals:
New to the forum and just wanted to jump in on the replacement of speakers. I have a 2011 SMS with Nav shaker 500. I changed out the front and rear speakers with Infinity REF6832CF up front and Rockford Fosgate R168X2 in the rear. Used the Metra 72-5600 harnesses and they are indeed reversed polarity. SO...I pulled the doors apart again and found that with a large paper clip bent streight, I could push the black and white wired pins out of their sockets. They are only held in by tension, not a clip so I simply pushed (hard) them out and carefully swapped them around so the black wire is now on top (or away from the clip side). They worked perfectly without cutting wires/splicing wires or putting new end plugs on them so they look just like the one's from Crutchfield. Now SOME older mustangs do have the harness attached to the speakers going the way Metra has it set up but the newer mustangs it is not. A quick look in the trunk at the exposed speakers will let you know which ones you need to buy. If you are looking at the speaker face down on a table with the posts turned to 6 o clock, the RIGHT one is the positive. Always! It then attaches to the bigger end plug of the Metra harness. So look at your speaker connection and see which set up you need. Again it took me 1 minute to change the wires on both harnesses (after I figured it out) so buy the cheapest ones and fix as needed!! Hope this helps. All four speakers are 6 x 8 / 5x 7 size.
