Is mine a shaker?
I know this sounds lame but what type of stereo system comes with a 2014 v6 premium and what is the least expensive way to make it sound better. Thanks in advance!!!

A simple google search would tell you. Does it say shaker on the faceplate? Do your door panels have big 8-9" speaker grills on them? Is there a big black box in the trunk?

That's the thing, it doesn't have the sub in the trunk. The faceplate does have the word shaker on it but I wasn't sure which shaker system I had? It sounds like I have the 500 because I don't have the sub in the trunk. I would like to improve the sound quality without spending big bucks.

I understand what you are saying, but unless you are sitting still in a quiet place with the engine not running you probably would not be able to hear the difference. Once you're moving the various noises (exhaust, wind, road, traffic, etc.) make it very difficult to hear a difference.
I must relate a story about a watch I once owned - a Bulova Accutron with a tuning fork movement. I could hold the watch up to my ear and hear the tuning fork. One day I was at work and three guys were talking about some fantastic new (and VERY expensive) speakers. One had bought them, one was seriously considering it, and the last really wanted to go to a stereo shop and hear them before deciding. I took off my watch and asked them to listen to the tuning fork. They passed the watch around and held it up to each ear. Only one of the six ears could hear the tuning fork.
The moral of this story is there are probably much better ways to spend your money.

Yes, if there's no black box in the trunk its the 500. Deadening your doors is really going to give you the most bang for your buck. It will reduce a lot of the ambient noise and vibrations that interfere with the music. Throw in a decent set of front speakers on top of that and you should notice a significant difference.

My faceplate only says SHAKER on it, there is no indication of 500 or 1000. You will just have to see if you have the trunk subs or not. I believe the 05-09 Shaker actually said 500 or 1000.
