Just installed door speakers in my 2013 GT

I have a 2013 GT Premium. Today I installed Infinity Kappas 682.9cf. WOW what a difference. It is literally night and day. So the install was NOT a direct swap. What i did was take the junk stock door speakers out and I had to cut out the stock housing and just use the border. The Kappas fit right in and a nice tight seal to the door. Next thing I am going to do is the rear speakers with the same Infinity Kappas. If anyone is looking for sound improvement on their GT this is the way to go for a pretty affordable price. The clarity and crispness is insane. I can not believe how junky the stock ones were.

You made the right choice in upgrading those lousy door speakers. That's one of the first mods I did as well, installing some nice Focal speakers in the door. The upgrade sounded so good, I decided then to replace the HU with a Sony DVD receiver and that was also a worthwhile upgrade.
Enjoy your new music.

I paid 140 for speakers plus install. They had them in stock at the shop. However I saw them on amazon today on sale for cheap.

Thanks for the post. I am considering upgrading my speakers and your post further confirms that it really does make a difference.

The stock speakers really are garbage . I ordered my inifinitys on amazon and made sure they were here the day I brought the car home. Spent that night putting them in.

Fronts were easy. I'm real thankful the door panels are held on with bolts and not those awful plastic push clips.

Have fun with the rears though. They're a royal PITA! Have to take off or move a bunch of trim and some of those aforementioned awful plastic clips.

I had these installed yesterday, they are much improved over stock. Crossover fits next to the speaker, there is a little pocket, I had them installed by my local shop and I watched what he did, it was no issues putting the crossover in. Can't wait for these to break in and hear the final result.

Hey guys, little bit of an update. I didn't like the fit I was getting with the speakers mounted in the stock housing that the shop cut up. So I ordered he brackets from a 2011 or 2012 from tousley ford. Had the door speakers remounted in the new brackets today. It is perfect now.

I also had the same speakers, infinity kappas installed in the rear today. What a pain it is to get to the rear speakers. I now have all 4 speakers replaced and it sounds amazing.
However, there is one last thing to do. Unfortunately the stock amp is not giving enough power to all the speakers especially the rears. Its a shame with such nice speakers. Is it possible to buy like a small rockockford fosgate amp that fits up in glove compartment and wire all 4 speakers to it and leave the stock amp where ever it is to power just the two door subs?

Did the stock amp power just the door speakers fine before installing the rear speakers? I'm looking at replacing my door speakers as well, but I'd rather not mess with installing an amp and all that jazz.

Also how much difference is there between the '13 speaker bracket and the '12 speaker bracket? I have a set of 6.5" components and the only speaker adapters I could find were for the '12.

it powers the front door speakers ok but not the rears with such a nice set of speakers i put in, it would be terrible to not put another amp in now to get the full quality out of them. the stock amp directs like 75% of the power to fronts so now the infinity kappas i put in the rear are not shining to full potential but still sound better than stock.

I think I should be fine since I don't plan on going through the trouble of upgrading the rears.

Any comments on the differences between the brackets for the 12 and 13?

This thread got me to get off my butt and go ahead and replace the front speakers in MY Mustang too ... lol

I installed some Kenwood Excelon 6x8's that I had since a previous install in my '01 Ranger but didn't really have a chance to test out the new-found sound, since the GF got home with her daughter and I ran in as soon as I buttoned everything up

Tomorrow, I'm going out for a drive

I have amps and woofers, a 12" Kicker Solobaric in a nice slanted cubic/sealed enclosure that I could add if I wanted more bass, and I think I may be going that way ... lol

The Kenwoods that I installed today, next to the stock fronts:

I did. My car was ordered as a base-GT with the most standard audio system they offer in a Mustang - single CD, 4 speakers, no SYNC, no Sirius.

I posted right above you what I just did

Thanks!! All i added was the Sync. Some like the Sync and some don't. I have had it in all my Fords since 2009 with the exception of my 2012 Boss 302 and i really missed it

Just the front speakers so far. Alpine 6x8. Need to order a pair for the rear.
