/I was going to lie and say I crawled into the trunk while the seat backs were down and pull the trunk closed, but that's just silly, and it's easier to keep up with the truth anyway. PETA and ASPCA be darned, that monkey loves his job, I tell ya.

What brand of trunk monkey? Roush? Steeda?

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4]

You mean someone here does that......oh....wait....

I do not think they are trolling.. I think being a troll and having so light hearted fun are two very different things.

I can see his point. On my 2005 there were 'holes' in the trunk on the inside that I could grab to close the trunk. Not meant as a handhold, but it worked. With my 2012 now that Ford put in a trunk liner, I miss that 'handhold'. Things you get used to.

My '07 Charger did, but only on the right side.
On the left there was a same-size opening/cut-out in the sheetmetal, but no plastic "pull down cup" like there was on the right side.
I got used to closing it by reaching into the metal cutout on the left, since I was closing it as I was usually heading toward the driver seat.

On the Mustang, I've started pulling down the trunk lid by the yellow handle that Ford installed in case somebody is trapped in the trunk.

I grab the handle, then pull down on it fairly fast so I can let go of it and the lid is still traveling down, then as I pull back my hand from the trajectory of the lid, I reach above and with the base of my palm I close the lid by pushing down on the spoiler.

Yeah, I wish Ford installed a "pull down cup" too ... lol

You could always buy a box of those little rubber finger condoms that nurses use for a couple of bucks. Just keep them in your center console, pull one one out and slip it on your index finger and close trunk.

Btw I'm serious here and not laying a bridge for trolls. None of us want oily finger prints on our spoilers. Not even our own.

It may sound silly but this is coming from a guy who would lay a large piece of cardboard down everytime he went up his steep @ss driveway.

Just trying to help.

Red face

To be clear I'm not angry about the trolls -- I know how to have fun too Just wanted to hear some real ideas on how to remedy the issue.

My girlfriends IS250 has one and I use it exclusively. I'll try to snap a pic later. I've seen it on other cars too -- it's not uncommon.

Saleen, before he sold the company. I had the monkey transferred from my previous car. He's gettin' a little grey in the face, but he is still goin' strong.

A serious answer for the OP:
http://compare.ebay.com/like/2809479...Types&var=sbar

Or something like it, or make one yourself out of an old seatbelt, or some other strap... whatever you do, get a strap, screw it onto the trunk, and somehow do it so it looks stock-ish.

/People will think you're the bomb with your innovation and such, but I want a 2.5% 'credit' royalty, k? Every 100 times, you say 'houtex said' 2.5 of those times.
//Call it a 'mod' and don't worry about it.
///Don't know how you're gonna manage the '.5' part of that royalty...

I'm feeling strangely turned on.

Not a bad idea. I'll give you 1.5%

Anyone else notice the unusual amount of additional force required to have the latch catch when closing the trunk? ( at least on my 2012 vert)

I noticed. Sometimes it takes me 2-3 tries to get it to close.

I had that issue. It was remedied by twisting the rubber stoppers clockwise -- they screw into the trunk lid. Those stoppers are stopping your latch from closing-- shorten them up!

I hope the faux gas cap is on sturdy cause I use it to close the trunk so the lid doesn't show fingerprints.

I do the following...I use my right hand (I am right-handed), curl it into a fist, then use the side of my fist placed over the center part, pulling and pushing simultaneuously on the gas cap emblem to close it.

I hate getting finger prints on the spoiler, decklid, or the outside of the gas cap emblem.
